The American Music Awards use to be a big deal. But again this year, no Canadian broadcaster picked up the show. The AMA's were on CBS last night on a holiday monday in the US. The show should have decent ratings since it had very little competition during prime time with mostly reruns and game shows.

The big winner last night was Billie Eilish who swept up with the most important awards. However she didn't attend last nights ceremony. There was a time when I wouldn’t miss a music awards show but to be honest, I didn’t even know this was airing! Had I been aware I would have tuned in for a bit at least as I ended up reading last night, nothing on, or so I thought…!

A lot of the musical guests were older, bordering on geriatric. Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and the old codger himself, Rod Stewart. Watching Stewart was rather heartbreaking. A lot of the winners were not at the awards. Tiffany Haddish is not really to my taste but she did an ok job. It was all rather dull and uninspiring.

The American Music Awards had their best ratings for a live broadcast of the show since 2019. The numbers however were down from last year which was a pre-recorded anniversary special.
