I'm not entirely sure when this happened, but an offshoot of the U.S. cable entity Game Show Network is now on channel 51.7, one of the many subcarriers of Ion Television's WPXJ near Buffalo (actually Batavia, N.Y.) I discovered the "new" offering purely by accident while tuning around the dial on Monday.
It's called Game Show Central and has a 24-hour-a-day offering of TV quizzes you've never heard of that, not surprisingly, give away the cheapest possible prizes. (The one I watched out of curiosity was called "Hey Yahoo," and it asked contestants to try to guess what people looked for on that search engine. The top prize was just $10,000 but almost no one ever wins that.)
I'm not sure if this going to get anyone with an antenna to rush out and scan it in, but it's there in case you ever want some mindless TV on in the middle of the night when you can't sleep. (If this doesn't put you out, nothing will!)
And by the way, if you don't have an antenna but are curious what this thing looks like, it's also available on a number of free online providers, including Tubi and PlutoTV, although I'm not sure if it's restricted to the U.S. only or needs a VPN.
Channel 51 is one of the better signals into the GTA, although there's not really a lot to watch on it, despite the fact it offers 9 digital subcarriers on it, the most of any from the Buffalo area.
