I was a little taken aback when a couple of day ago I heard for the first time, a commercial that referenced cannabis. It is for Indeed and the scenario is a cannabis store owner needing staff. I wasn’t initially paying attention until I could have sworn I heard the word “indica”, I was right! Anyways, just think that it’s interesting that after seven years or so after legalizing it, this is the first time I’ve heard a commercial referring to it!

Well that's a neat loophole - I don't think cannabis shops can advertise directly (similar to tobacco).

Tobacconists everywhere exclaim: "Why didn't I think of that?".

Are you able to recall the station that ran the ad?

I heard it on CFRB 1010 and also on AM740,  both in Toronto, starting Wednesday May 14th.

Which makes the "we need staff" loophole even funnier.

I heard this commercial yesterday and I’m fairly certain they’ve tweaked it, as in no reference to “indica”. Someone wasn’t happy with it!

Or, possibly because they didn't give equal time to sativa :-) I did read that per the new Ontario budget, the gov't will no longer require Cannabis stores to cover up their front windows. They still cannot display product though. I look forward to see how creative they become, especially with a thriving illicit market that the gov't turns a blind eye to.
