Former CHCH-TV anchor/reporter(and, on occasion, talk show host)Donna Skelly has been elected as the first female speaker of the Ontario Legislature. The MPP, representing Flamborough-Glanbrook, replaces Ted Arnott-who retired from that post after serving as Speaker for 7 years.

(Credit to the Toronto Star & Hamilton Spectator for that news blurb. Likewise, CHCH in Hamilton also reported it.)

No wonder so many former media types jump to politics.  Better money, gold-plated benefits and less work.

I am not at all surprised she won. The other candidate in contention was an NDPer. Zero chance Conservative MPP's would ever cast a ballot for her.

Her talents as a morning host were suspect.  I hope she thinks on her feet much more quickly as Speaker than she did on CHCH's morning show.
