Last year, ABC was a bit short of programming, so it dipped into its Hulu roots and brought Season 1 of "Only Murders in the Building," a streaming-only show, to free network TV. The series, which stars Steve Martin and Martin Short among other big names, was a critically acclaimed hit.

Now the Alphabet Network is bringing season 2 to the small screen, debuting Thursday, Jan. 2nd at 9PM. It appears they'll be scheduling two hous of the show every Thursday. It was a hit for ABC, which is why it's coming back for a second go-round.

Heh, I'm surprised you're not complaining about how ABC has 3 hours of High Potential tonight.
Is the show really THAT popular?

At least they are different episodes. The last time, they showed the same debut three times in one week. At least this time, they are three repeats, and not the same one. It tells me ABC is short of programming if they're already into reruns in early-mid November.

Worth noting this is one of ABC's highest rated new shows in a very long time, and has already been renewed for a second season.

But tonight's program is also the fall finale. Which means after only 4 or 5 episodes, it's off the air until sometime next year.

Each episode of OMITB comes in at about 40 minutes, which isn't too far off traditional network episode length so I wouldn't expect an awful lot of extra commercial load to fill the time.

S4 just ended on Disney+ (with a fifth on its way). Each season has ten episodes. It's an enjoyable watch, even as the plot gets more convoluted as it builds toward the crescendo. The main cast is great, and some of the guest stars have been dynamite.

Wonder if CTV will pick it up again as a simsub.  The only problem I had with the show was the editing by ABC for the naughty words or blurring over the mouth.  CTV could show it with the offending language, but maybe they can only run the simsubed version and not the original.

If CTV runs the original, they lose the sub.
