I'm not sure I'll hear any of this live on Tuesday morning. But I'll know why there will be smoke coming out of my radio. Jerry Agar will be -- okay, I'll go there -- furious over his pal Anthony Furey's loss in Monday's city council by-election. Jerry will be boiling over the fact that Kathleen Wynne and the rest of the "radical left" ganged up to beat Furey, who does not live in the ward. If Furey had won, Jerry would have had a 2nd city councillor to appear on his show. Now, he's stuck with only the cheap hypocrite Stephen Holyday. Poor Jerry.

Again with the politics. What do I have to do to stop this?

I've asked nicely, I've outlined my reasons and I've even lost members over it. And still it goes on.

Yes, Furey is a sometime media person and so is Agar. But what does this have to do with the topics we normally discuss here? Again, please, take it elsewhere. Or I'll take Dale Patterson's advice and start hitting the delete button, as I just did with another completely irrevelant post on this topic that was put up here this morning.

Again, I'm not trying to censor anyone. You're free to think and say whatever you want. Just not on a radio board that has nothing to do with politics and polarizes everyone. Please, stop this now. We have a good thing going here. I'm begging everyone - don't ruin it.

Maybe he's saying Jerry will have show prep challenges .  There!  All about radio now.
I tried RA.

Cheers,

Sigh. I suppose there's no stopping a tsunami.

Can't wait to see what happens after the U.S. President is finally determined. To get it back on the radio theme:

We know CFRB is doing special coverage with Jim Richards and Deb Hutton, which engendered considerable scorn here.

Still no word about 640's plans and it appears they will do some kind of follow during Ben O'Hara Byrne's show. But how long either will go into the night is unknown - they will almost certainly both be off the air before a winner is named.

Meanwhile, here's what CBC Radio 1 has planned, from their website.

Join host of Your World Tonight Susan Bonner and The Sunday Magazine host Piya Chattopadhyay for up-to-the-minute results, election analysis from a Canadian perspective, and some lively conversations with correspondents and special guests. Stay with CBC News for extensive coverage — listen to America Votes on CBC Radio and Sirius XM, and streaming live on CBC Listen and the CBC News app, beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

How about the perennial "When will CHFI go All Christmas" controversy? That hasn't reared its head yet.

Naw. Gentle Giant FTW. Happy vote day. I'll likely be listening to either the Corpse or BBC for coverage until my typically early bedtime. Maybe tuning into various local regional sources if things get messy.

CFRB is leaving their coverage to Hutton and Richards? That's embarrassing. Hard pass.

A great John Moore line at the end of the first Roundtable on CFRB.

After Scott Reid boldly predicted that either Trump or Harris would win the U.S. election (!) Moore related the story of a radio consultant he once dealt with. He was told, "Well this idea will work - or it won't."

Sounds like the consultants I've run into in the business!

Just caught that too and thought of a consultant who years ago said my promo was “nearly pretty good”.  I still chuckle over that one.

Well, at least we know it won't last long. Coming in the next two weeks, for sure.

Way too late. My guess is next Tuesday, the day after Nov. 11th.

It used to be their practice to flip the switch at noon on the day of the parade. They jumped the gun a bit last year citing something about listeners needing some joy during a particularly hard year.
Following that logic, this year they should have flipped in September

I guess Christmas music on OTA radio is about ratings, but geez, if people want Christmas music for their workplace or store, surely you can have tons of such music recorded and ready to play every year, even on old fashioned CDs.

It  certainly is about ratings. Every year markets that have a station with a Holiday Hits format, that station gets a monster share boost in November and December.
