You'll need to be in Poland to hear it, but the disc jockeys on this station never need a day off, never call in sick and never ask for a raise, because they don't actually exist. (Although they've provided real looking avatars, complete with autobiographies, to show them on their website. You can see them at the link below.)

The owner decided since its ratings were near zero, he had nothing to lose.

"Staff who previously worked on the channel have criticised the move. But the station’s manager says that cooperation with them would have been terminated regardless of the AI decision because the channel had previously been unsuccessful."

What worries me is when others decide this is a good idea. How long before Rogers and Bell follow suit?

I would much rather hear AI on CHFI than John Tesh.
It's time for a Canadian voice input that can say "According to the Toronto Star..." instead of constantly saying stuff like "according to USA Today..."

It's one thing to have AI voices instead of real people, but to put pretend pictures of them along with bio writeups in disgusting.  Especially when they say one of them stands up for human rights issues, etc.

Yeah, that's low.

It should be noted that CJED(105.1 the River)in the Niagara region has AI Cleo doing overnights, at least on the weekends. Honestly, give me Boom 97.3's many liners showing actual listeners calling in to vent on one thing or the other, or request songs. It's kinda reminiscent of Speaker's Corner.

Yeah, that's low.

They just went even lower, having one of their A.I. presenters interview a famous Polish poet.

The problem? The poet is dead and was recreated using - you guessed it, A.I.

It gives a whole new meaning to "Dead Poets Society."

Polish radio station uses AI presenters to “interview” dead poet

A.I. interviewing a deceased poet? I say leave it to the "Prose" in broadcasting and stick with real life radio personalities. To me those that work on air are like your friends...it is personal...I mean A.I. is great but let the lyrics of the Rush song, stay in place, "begin the day with a friendly voice, a companion unobtrusive"

Radio is a buddy...let's not have that buddy on the mic be fake.

And just like that, this  A.I.-only radio station is D.O.A. after a ton of listener complaints.

"The station’s editor, Marcin Pulit, said in a statement Monday that the aim had been to spark a debate about artificial intelligence, and that it had succeeded. He said the experiment had been meant to last three months but that it saw no reason to go on."

Where will the dead poets go now to have their say?
