This could be a battle coming up between the affiliated stations and the networks. Since CBS, NBC, ABC prime time programming (other than football) hasn't been drawing in the numbers for years, and local news possibly brings in more viewers and revenue, it could be just a matter of time for a showdown. The affiliated stations have a lot of clout.
This is not a huge deal for Canadian networks as you might think. Over the past 3 or 4 years overall the networks prime time schedules have not followed the US networks as closely as before. Likely since the programming isn't bringing in the numbers like before, the strike and COVID. This offers them the opportunity to run some programming at 10pm from a streamer, syndication, original programming, possibly pre release some shows, or in the case of CTV, as mace mentions... more Big Bang Theory!
