Over the years, there has been a lot of speculation here about the Rogers exclusive NHL deal for Sportsnet and whether it was worth the $5.2 billion Big Red shelled out for the 12-year contract. Others wondered if the company would make that deal today.

And now it appears you finally have an answer - yes, they will try to keep the NHL when the agreement expires in 2026. That's according to CEO Tony Staffieri, who confirms that the communications giant will be making a bid to renew or get a new deal for the hockey games - although it's not clear if it will be exclusive to Rogers or whether they'd share the rights with anyone else to help pay for it.

The big question is whether it will again offer such a huge amount of money for NHL rights.

Current CEO has to say that with another season left in the deal. Otherwise he'd be implying that the current deal was a mistake.
