It's a long time sports station, but it's seen better days. Now big changes are coming to Detroit's WXYT-AM and those in the Windsor area should be hearing them as soon as this May.

That’s a very cool concept but 97.1 the Ticket is very well established with a lot of live content. It’s going to be tough for anyone to knock them off.

It's owned and leased out by the same company as WXYT. It's more of a brand extension than a competitor.

Oh okay. I thought it had been sold or something. They used to act as a one two punch in the past as well.

Very well established indeed. They are back to the #1 spot in the Detroit market with a 9.8 share after spending December at #2 behind WNIC with its cheerful [to some] Holiday Hits format.

Well, that didn't last very long. It appears for those listening to Detroit radio, all bets are back on. The end came quickly, at 5PM Tuesday.

The man behind the now discontinued All Black format, called "Sports Rap Radio," vows it will return - somewhere else. 

"I want to reiterate, we're not dead. 'Sports Rap Radio' is not dead," [Rob] Parker said. "It's very viable and we have not abandoned the format or this idea. It's just that we just couldn't continue with where we were currently. But I want to make that clear."
