The Southern Ontario/WNY Radio-TV Forum / SOWNY Problems On Bell?

I received a DM Friday morning from one of our great members that was a tad disturbing.

"There appears to be a problem with the web site: On the Bell cell network I am getting 'cannot open the page because of too many redirects'. It is fine on my wifi. Are you aware of it?
I tried two different browsers on my iPhone - same result.
I was on the road yesterday and could not get to SOWNY"

I have no idea what's causing this issue and I'm wondering if others that use a Bell cell are also experiencing something similar. I've contacted site provider Boardhost for answers, although they're not very good about getting back to admins.

I have no idea if this is on our end or Bell's (maybe they're getting back at me for all the nasty comments I've made about them over the years!) Either way, please be patient. I have to hope they're working on fixing it.

One thing that user could do is try hitting the https://gta.boardhost.com/ URL directly vs. sowny.net (which redirects to the gta.boardhost.com address). A user can't always control redirects - sometimes the site will script it out that way, or it's hostname or sub-domain resolution, etc., - and the error may persist - but one of the things they can control is removing one of the entry points that serves as a redirect.

That's a very good suggestion. Here's the alternate, in case you've never seen it:

I have always had a problem, and still do, accessing SOWNY using Google. Any other search engine works fine.

I checked on my Bell phone and both the above URLs, do not work.
