The Creepiest Promos On Local Radio

It's probably just me, but the promos for the nightly "Last Show with David Cooper," which run constantly on AM640, have to be the most unsettling things currently airing.

There is something about the way the female voice whispers her part that I find horribly creepy and disorienting. It's almost as bad as the show itself, which is increasingly unlistenable due to its completely self-delusional menu of self-help and touchy feely topics for most of the three hours.

It's been a long time since a mere promo made me change the station. But this one has accomplished it.

I happened to be in the car late the other night and heard the produced show intro.

#1 - I had completely forgotten this show existed and was part of the line up. My immediate response was, "What is this?"

#2 - The intro didn't feel welcoming at all and the first few minutes of the host continued that feeling for me.

I'll have to remind myself to give it another go next time I'm out late but the first impression wasn't great.

I listened to some of this podcast.
It sounds like a million other self help, self analysis, inward looking pseudo psychology crap that has been on radio for decades.
I used to have a nickname for this sort of thing.
The "tiny specs" syndrome.
Ever been in a restaurant and happen to hear a couple at a nearby table obviously on a first date where the man or woman is trying to sound really deep and profound and impress the other?
It goes like this, "Gee, Martha, just think, we're all just little tiny specs floating around in the universe, looking for meaning... I mean just little tiny specs.."  etc etc.
Martha replies, "gee I know, right?, we're just little tiny specs."
Then they go back to one or the other's place after the date and Martha discovers a really disappointing tiny spec too.

Martha's date must have happened in the pre Viagra days.
