CTV simulcasts the ABC show "Will Trent" every Tuesday at 8 PM and the show is doing relatively well in the ratings. It follows that with another simultaneous substitution of "The Rookie."
But on Tuesday, for this week only, there's been a sudden change. ABC News snagged an exclusive interview with Donald Trump on his first 100 days in office and in a last minute shift, plans to air it in Trent's spot. According to the updated listings I've seen, the scheduled episode will now be seen at 9 PM instead, followed by the Rookie at 10 o'clock.
CTV has a new cooking reality program called "Yes Chef" at 10 PM, airing it as the same time as NBC.
So the question: does CTV keep Trent at 8 and The Rookies at 9, losing two simulcast opportunities with ABC to ensure they get the substitution with NBC at 10, or put something else at 8 and keep the schedule with The Alphabet Network?
For now, it seems they're sticking with the schedule, which makes sense to me. But it blows their simulcast night right out of the window. Admittedly, not a big deal but a situation that doesn't come up too often.
And if you're on an antenna and taping either of the ABC shows off of Channel 7, be sure to check they're being recorded at the newly rescheduled time.
