Stephanie Smyth was one of the victors last night winning St. Paul's for the Liberals. She was a long-time anchor at CP24 and before that, 680 News where she was also news director.

She is married to Paul Cook who is the managing editor and morning anchor at 680 News. During the election he exempted himself from reading any stories related to provincial politics. It'll be interesting to see if he continues that practice for the next four years. I can't help but compare that approach to Ben Mulroney, sister of provincial cabinet minister Catherine Mulroney, who continually chimed in on provincial politics on his show on 640. (Did he regularly disclose this during segments on provincial politics, I wonder?)

Ben is a sibling of a sitting politician, but not the spouse of a sitting politician... I think that should ease the potential conflict?

Oops - I must have merged her name with Catherine Clark, Joe Clark's daughter.

She was also on CJCL in the '80s.
