...He's working a double shift. I just heard Bradley do the 3 PM newscast on AM640, and I think it was live (although he did not give a current temperature, so they could be gambling nothing big happens and he's recorded everything.) I also heard him do the first newscast of the day at 6 AM. Which means he's been working a 9 hour shift and counting.

I'm not sure why they would subject their morning anchor to such a gruelling schedule, but apparently it's been a very long day for the veteran broadcaster.

Either way, this is what happens when you fire most of your newsroom and leave yourself very shorthanded.

What a endless day - especially on a Friday!

Update: Just heard him do the 5PM cast, meaning the shift is now 11 hours long. There's Global News at 6, so I think his shift is finally over.

I'm now convinced the last few hours were pre-recorded, a dangerous thing to do when it comes to news. I heard the same pick-up error he made on the weather two hours in a row. It sounds like no one did the edit, so he started the forecast, stopped, then went back to do it again.

The same mistake aired at both 4 and 5 PM, in the exact same way.

Taped news is never a good thing, but when you leave yourself short-staffed, I suppose it was their only choice. If that's what took place, it's sad to see it happen.

Wouldn't CP (or whatever Broadcast News is now) be a better alternative, with a recorded long range forecast?

The Canadian Press newscasts are recorded at about 20 minutes to the top of the hour.
Most of the time that is fine but if a plane crashes at Pearson airport at 10 minutes to the hour not to much.
Also sports scores are very difficult to keep accurate.
The upside, of course, is a boot free newscast because all mistakes are fixed before the cast is uploaded.
