This thread started as a way to list some of the phrases broadcasters say that can irritate listeners. My latest must-to-avoid is one I'm hearing on the local talkers way, way too often these days. After an interview with a guest, the hosts will often say "Thanks for this. Appreciate you."
Not "appreciate it."
"Appreciate you."
I'm not sure why, but this really annoys me. CFRB's Shane Hewitt seems particularly prone to this and he says it almost every time.
I suppose there's nothing wrong with it, but for some reason, it rubs me the wrong way.
If you agree, well then, I guess I "appreciate you."
