Is the end near? Corus has officially hired a firm to help explore the possible sale of the entire company. It comes after the once giant broadcaster, now a shadow of its former self, has fallen on very hard times, including shutting down heritage radio station CHML with no notice earlier this year and seeing its shares fall into the penny stock range.

"It’s doing so less than four months after warning investors that its debt issues “may cast significant doubt about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern.”

Among those believed to be in the running: Quebecor, which has previously expressed interest if the right deal could be reached. It's hard to say what might happen to its assets or employees, who currently work for Global TV, a handful of speciality cable channels and radio stations like AM640, Q107 and CFNY in Toronto.

I hope they come up with something that keeps their core businesses going. It is hard to believe just how a once powerhouse broadcaster could fall so low. I still hold Shaw responsible for Corus’ demise. I read that Quebecor has been working on this since January but nothing yet.
