Mark Jan. 10th On Your Broadcast Calendar

That's the date when Corus will announce its first quarter 2025 financial results, and I'm not sure investors - those who are left - will be entirely happy with the numbers. I can't help but wonder just how bad they might be this time.

The station's stock had previously been reduced to near penny status, forcing many layoffs in 2024 and leading to the shutdown of several stations - including 97-year-old CHML in Hamilton.

Sorry, this might be paywalled.

Who do they think they are? The CBC?

Lol - I suggest these Execs don't show their face around the office much. The people still there are sure to be even more upset.

Re: Mark Jan. 10th On Your Broadcast Calendar

As a reporter I sure wish people that I worked for would give me a bonus for "meeting my targets."
Like when I would cover a news event and come back with audio, interviews and raw sound to put together a good radio story -- in other words, "meeting my targets."
Why no bonus?
Wait... years ago I worked for a newsroom in Vancouver where every Christmas management bought the small staff a turkey each.
Another newsroom where I worked bought a fridge full of sandwiches, drinks etc, for the office who would be working over the holiday.
So I guess I really should not complain when managers at Corus get half a million bucks for doing their jobs

Re: Mark Jan. 10th On Your Broadcast Calendar

All my years in media only a few companies gave their staff a bonus that was actual money.  CKNX had a good year around 1989 and gave all staff one weeks pay extra as a bonus before Christmas.  Sales people weren't included in this and received a flat $100 bonus.  When at CFPL, Martha Blackburn would visit the station on Christmas eve and give a $100 bill to everyone that was working that night.

When I worked in the newspaper business one year all staff also received a bonus of one weeks pay. Our paper was owned by Torstar.

All other bonuses tended to be grocery gift certificates.
