I'd be astonished if they are still going by the end of this year

Re: Winter PPM

Of note, Indie's AAA (or whatever it is) format has clearly paid off, yet also hasn't resulted in any bump to The Edge
CBC has a young people problem...... consistent declines. They need their next morning host to be under 45.

Re: Winter PPM

Indie 88 beating Virgin and both Corus FM's is remarkable. And considering the latter are all full power stations. What happened to CBC R1's listenership? I thought they were at the top until recently.

Re: Winter PPM

This is adults 25-54. Often the general public and news reports get 12+ or 18+ ratings, in which CBC R1 and commercial talk and sports do better on their strengths in 55+.

Re: Winter PPM

On Radio One, they are pushing podcasts hard, other than the morning show, which still does well. I consume everything I used to listen to on Radio One in Podcast form.

Re: Winter PPM

Zoomer has picked up a bit, they’re now topping CFRB, TSN & 640, which surprises me a bit. Mind you, I tune into Zoomer usually late afternoons for my classic pop fix, by then I’ve heard all the news!

680 News continues to be strong.  They seem to be the only AM station with good numbers 25-54.

I'm with you Johnny, but lots of Maple MAGA on these threads too.

Have been diligently listening for your "classic pop fix" each afternoon but if I heard one, it didn't "register".   At approximately what time can it be heard, please?     Or, in the interest of efficiency, please state the title and artist.

Not much the PDs can do. There’s a very low ceiling for what’s possible for a dead format on a dead band.

Re: Winter PPM

that sounds like something that PD working at those station would say - there's been many times that a PD has turned around a station into a big station - take a look at 92.5 it's so much bigger now than say 2010 that's what happens when you have a creative risk taking PD like Julie Adam at the time

Re: Winter PPM

Kiss is a top 40 FM station. The ceiling is #1. Commercial Talk radio is dead, AM radio is as good as dead.

Re: Winter PPM

Although its newmarket they were usually always on this list near the bottom - CKDX (which is now country) I dont think their doing the best with the format and should have kept Lite 88.5/Jewel.  Luckily in Barrie here, I can pick up their Meaford station Lite 99.3

Re: Winter PPM

CFRB and 640 aren't likely to be listened to by folks in the 25-54 demo.

Older folks listen to those stations more than younger people are.

25-54 is barely listening to radio period, never mind the AM band.

Would be amazing to find anyone in that demo listening to AM unless maybe they were driving an antique car with AM only and the sound system had not been updated and really aside from 680,  AM radio in this city will not be viabile for much longer cos actually almost no one is listening  as mentioned up thread.

0.1

That signal no longer covers enough of the market to be a factor at all. They have to keep it in the ratings though if they want Z103 to be included.

Re: Winter PPM

By station language, companies can't pick and choose which stations are rated in each market. You can't hide a poor-performer. To have any credibility, the system needs winners *and* losers.

Re: Winter PPM

After I found out about Dean Blundell's latest activity I looked up 94.9 The Rock playlist and was really surprised to see that they had just played Cities on Flame by BOC  ( A track I don't ever remember being played on the Radio), A Buddy Holly track and Truckin' by the Dead. Wiki calls the stations format active rock ??

Where I live they come in like a local. How come we never see them on any Toronto ratings ?

They broadcast from Oshawa, so geography is the main factor ?
