It's his normal time slot, but there's nothing normal about being live. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is getting one last kick at going to air without being on tape, choosing to do a live show so his monologue can include jabs at The State of The Union, which also goes live at 9 PM.
No doubt his writers will be working until the last second coming up with material, since the lengthy speech isn't expected to end until around 11 PM.
Given that Colbert only has a few months left (the show ends May 21st), this may be one of the final times he goes on without a net. It will be on CBS and Global if you're up at that hour.

Jimmy Kimmel is also taping after the speech for Tuesday show, using advantage of Pacific coast time zone.

And of course, if the long winded Bloviator-In-Chief goes long, it might not even start at 11:30 PM, delayed for local news.

Trump will go on forever tonight I bet. He would love to mess up Colbert's and Kimmel's shows by going way overtime.

There are predictions it could be a 3-hour diatribe. We'll see, but I'm betting it sets some kind of record.

Neither will the audience.

One hour and 47 minutes - the longest such speech in history. Not a surprise. Frankly, I thought it would go on even longer.
The Democratic response will ensure Colbert won't start on time. What will Global show? Another episode of Border Security? If so, how ironic.
By the way, one Democratic congresswoman was pictured at one point. She was wearing a protest button. The words that went out on every TV network showing the address? "Fuck ICE." And yes, it was on screen for what felt like forever until somebody in the control room spotted it and cut away.

Global wound up showing a rerun of its earlier "Global National" while waiting for the live and delayed Stephen Colbert show.
Interestingly, Jimmy Kimmel aired on City at 11:35 PM as scheduled, even though ABC did not start it on time. A super indicated "Taped Earlier Tonight," so the feed went out in time for a normal start here.

Kimmel noted that Trump's speech, the longest in State of the Union address history, was still going on when he began to tape his episode.
Colbert does such shows live to air and noted that, between elections and SOTUs, last night's episode was about the 60th, and final, live show of his CBS run.
