I beg your pardon?  I spend a great deal of emotional currency when purchasing large appliances.  LOL

I was listening yesterday and just shaking my head during the Shelley Carroll interview.  I am not a fan of Shelley Carroll and usually only listen to her to hear what ridiculous statements she might make.  However, I was appalled at the lack of respect Reshmi had toward her.  Reshmi's exasperated sighs were audible and her constant interruption confused me as to the subject matter at hand.  Yes, I realize it was about opening up the warming centers earlier but other than that I couldn't make heads nor tails.

Last Wednesday Deb and Reshmi got into it over the EAs, their pay and pensions.  Reshmi was close to losing it about underpaying someone who has to train for 2 years, settle for 39K a year and hope at the end of it all the pension is enough.  Deb then very calmly explained that a lot of EAs, that she knows personally, choose that career because it is part time and they can be with their children afterschool and during the summers.  The pay is part-time pay but the career works for those she knows.  Radio-silence.  Reshmi didn't say another thing.  Deb threw to traffic and the rest of the show was quite strained.  I mentioned to my husband that I would be very surprised if both of them were on the show the following day.  And sure as s**t Reshmi called in sick at the last minute and Mark Towey had to fill in because he was already in studio. 

So that could offer some sort of explanation about her absence. 

Listening to The Rush yesterday, a woman called in about the ICU overcrowding and mandating masks.  She used the term "woke".  I could hear Reshmi being triggered.  Rather than let the woman make her point, Reshmi cut her off with "Woke?  What do you mean woke?"  She made the caller describe her understanding of the term "woke" and then went ahead and snarfed.  Yes, Reshmi snarfed.  Deb Hutton remained silent.

Bob Reid is the co-host today on The Rush. Only tuned in for a few minutes to hear him, he's always a pro, and the intro was simply " You're listening to The Rush." no names mentioned.

Fill-in co-host Deb Hutton mentioned on Tuesday that she's not only in this week, but next as well. So whatever is keeping MacArthur away, he'll be gone for at least another week after this one. 

Listening yesterday, I could tell there is no love lost between Reshmi and Deb.  I like Deb and I think the dynamic between the two, while rather frosty, makes for a good afternoon show.  Take Reshmi down a peg or two.  
 

Listened to his show today.  Not gonna lie - shed some tears. Such a class act. Not sure how he managed to hold it together.

He was the inspiration for Rydell High in Grease.

Jay just mentioned when he and Ryan were on air talking about two years ago today when the pandemic hit.  And he spoke Ryan's name.  They played a clip from Jim's show.  They are playing a clip from Jay and Sylvia who was filling in for Ryan.  Jim referred to Ryan as Jay's "co-host at the time" who had to stay at home with his wife.  They are dancing very carefully.

I would have to say Jennifer Valentyne was much better suited for TV as opposed to her short stint on the radio waves.  Although she did hold her own I felt she had more of a presence on the screen.

I noticed on Monday that Jay mentioned switching off social media for the weekend as he was not in a good place.  Made me think "hmmm".  And they have stopped saying "Filling in for Ryan . . ."  So it seems that this is the end for Ryan.  Glad to hear Jim back on in the afternoon.  Sorry that it happened under these circumstances though. 

I remember the first Monday Ryan was off, Jay was making light that Ryan's kids destroyed him over the weekend so he was taking a day off to recover.  I guess at that point no-one really had a handle on how serious it was.  I wish him well getting through whatever challenges he is facing.
