The question is, if we can get by without local news provided by the publicly funded "Corp"  during the biggest story of our time , can we get by without  it ..for good... once this is over?!

Exactly..not an issue . Whatever works for them.
You don't like it , it is as easy as changing stations. Besides, as I have said before there are 24/7 Christmas stations cranking out the stuff 365 days a year on the web!!

As annoying as " you know what I'm sayin"?
What about the  Conservative ad that says Justin Trudeau raised our taxes anyways....anyways?!
Then there is the Tim Hortons' commercial where the female announcers says " samiches"...you mean
sandwiches? Whose minding the store?

No problem with the continuing coverage , the interest is there.
What I do have a problem with is so called "unbiased"   TV reporters wearing Raptor or even Maple Leafs  gear ..while covering the story. In the event that a player gets caught up in a scandal , can we also expect to see the same reporters sporting the team logos..at the courthouse?

I understand perfectly well why they do it. Storm coverage on radio and tv does attract people..big time.
In fact if you aren't listening to coverage while commuting then you are probably listening to music, oblivious to what is going on around you and get what you deserve.  These are the same people who drive with the back window covered in snow and no lights on!!

Or maybe the CRTC  could  impose its will and force the stations that are already there to live up to their mandates to provide local news coverage. This used to be a thriving competetive market . We know that  CBC Hamilton would just be a Toronto repeater with an office..  and one report a day. Not worth the expense!!

Getting very tired of hearing  and reading headlines that   " A man has been killed "after" a crash on the 401.
No he was killed "in" the crash...he didn't survive and was put to death after the fact.

Thanks to everyone posting here regarding my retirement. Your kind words are much appreciated.
In regards to thanking Rogers , it had nothing to do with " thanks for not firing me"! I have learned after so many years in the business that it is pointless   to worry about what management has in store for you. They will do what they will do. I have worked with some incredibly talented people at Rogers  who weren't allowed to leave on their own terms..same story with colleagues  at Bell. I appreciated that opportunity...nothing more, nothing less.
