Hello "Saul"...reading the detail of your DXing endeavours I am astounded by what it is you must have at your disposal to accomplish all that you do.

If you can take any time out of your schedule to describe your setup I, for one, would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers

My family didn't have a lot of money but my dad wouldn't buy anything that he considered was 'cheap crap'. When I asked to have a transistor radio "like all the other kids had" he bought me this.....

The black bar atop the unit was a directional AM antenna that pivoted, as I remember. The pull-out rod antenna extended taller than I stood, having a base diameter of at least 5/8".

Geez I wish I had this now!

Just a 'tad' more expensive here in Canada - a  'tad' being the US/Cdn  conversion rate.

$8.00 US./ month, after the promotion ends, times the current  'tad' = $16.00 Cdn / month - all pre-applicable taxes.

From the Canadian website;

If you decide to continue service after your trial, the subscription plan you choose will automatically renew and you will be charged according to your chosen payment method at the then-current rates (currently $15.99). Taxes apply and subject to change upon proper notice.

I actually think radio is missing out on the demo. slightly younger than seniors, those that grew up during the freeform and "album" era, who would now be in their 50' s to early 60's, who are still seeking out new music with classics but more than just the same 3 hits/band combined with meaningful, insightful talk.

What DeepTracks Channel 27 on Sirius XM, plays, and in the way they play it, unless it's changed its format since I allowed my subscription to lapse has changed, is what is needed on an OTA FM freak!

And - YES.  -  I would look to include a broader range that would include more psychedelia, progressive,  80s and 90s 'rock', but just NOT only the 'hits' of any given artist/group.

I do not have a library of mp3 files that I play in my car, or listen to while walking. I much prefer not knowing what is that is going to be played next and not walking into traffic and being killed.

Shuffle/random play features, I have found, do not work very well at all, and all too often play a given song(s) way more often than, by rights, a proper algorithm should allow to happen.

Analog or Digital - the fact remains that there are, or should not be, any OTA signals on (old) UHF channel 73.

Remember back when CITY TV on 79 had to change channel to 57 because of the takeover/handover of that upper spectrum?

Ah - finally a subject thread I can get interested in

Quote from the attached link- "The UHF band originally had 70 RF channels (14-83). Channel 37 is reserved for radio astronomy leaving 69 UHF Tv RF channels. The band was later reduce to channels 14 - 69 (56 channels), leaving 55 UHF Tv RF channels. Additional reductions in the UHF band started in 2017"  http://otadtv.com/frequency/index.html

I have to think that whatever you're seeing on"73" is one of your devices, TV or converter of some sort, that is falsely displaying what is a digital signal as being analog.
That's my 1.4 cents worth - "2 cents" after conversion to US$

(Oh) Wow - it's been a month since this thread 'topped the charts' . Or by this posting, would doing so make it a 'hit'  ?

What can I say? I'm feeling a bit like the keywords in the following songs.

I knew of Toronto Kansas to be in existence. When the Canadian owned company I work for was bought by a US company, based in Boca Raton, they mistakenly sent a sales rep to Toronto Kansas thinking that's where it was we were.

"RadioAaron" is correct, at least when it comes to urban areas where the systems have gone ALL digital.

If you want, try just disconnecting your cable directly to your TV and set to SCAN the channels to see what you get, you may hit something, if not just the AM/FM channels that are deleviered for 'free'.

I you ever received a letter/flyer from from your cable provider telling you they were going to (slowly) discontinue analog service and that you would require a free converetre, such as may be seen below, then NO - there is no free TV service if you are just subscribing to their Internet offering.

https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDQ5WDgwMA==/z/qdkAAOSwKV9cO4jA/$_59.JPG

Before these came into effect the cable co's would install notch traps somewhere out of the customers' reach that would filter out and allow the lower frequency band on which was carried the internet service only, blocking out the TV signal bands,

Hi Fitz. I would have linked to that FLASH song but thought it to be too long for Dale's liking. Perhaps, Dale, you could tell 'us' if you have any limitations. Your answer may affect my last song below.

Hello Fitz,

I have had some good luck finding manuals when others couldn't so I tried looking.

This link is nothing I have seen or used before, and to download a pdf 'they' want to have your credit card info on file. So this is pretty much a 'no-go'

http://downloadingstarted.com/directed-hd-radio-dhhd-1000-manual.html#

I did see other stuff, both related to your radio and HD radio in general..see links below.

I read that you date yourself back to the old Chum-FM days, Do you go back as far as when they broadcast classical music, for 'long hairs', during the day, and at 6 PM switched to Free Form music for the other 'long hairs'?
