The CanCon regulations are outdated. They are from another time and have accomplished their goal - creating a Canadian Music industry.  Consumers chose how much Canadian music they listen to on the streaming services.  The DSPs are agnostic as to how much Canadian product is streamed. The listener makes that choice. Deregulate radio so it can offer content the audience wants on a level playing field. Local demand and reflection will ensure Canadian music to the degree that is indicative of consumers' demand. Properly executed, Radio is a mirror of the society it serves. Given a free choice Canadians CHOOSE no more than 10% of the music selections from  Canadian Artists.

He is Geoff William Sterling's grandson. Scott is his father. This is dreadful news for any family but particularly the Sterling's given the loss of Geoff and Joyce's daughter Kimberly in the late 70's. Condolences to Scott, Jesse and the family.

Pattison has some very talented people running their stations but every once in a while they choke. PEAK-FM in Vancouver is good example. Moved to the hinterlands of HD for a poor clone of NOW Edmonton. Glad to see it is back on analog FM and making a solid return ( hopefully in both senses of the word).

I have the same comments about Ed. He consulted with me on several technical projects including the original Home Shopping (CHSN) design and installation as well as several FM technical briefs for various clients. One of the good guys for sure. Low profile high expertise. Sorry for his family's loss. RIP.

It is my understanding Jim Waters was also involved with CHOP-FM  Pickering College Radio. A true gentleman. Owner /Operator/ Managers of his calibre  and  integrity are sorely missing in today's business. Condolences to the family and may he rest in peace.

Sorry Spinning Wheel ( great hit from BS&T) it is all about the 5% hit on their Canadian revenue, Just an excuse to pass on the C-11 fee  to consumers never mind the bike lanes, cost of living, gas, carbon tax and everything else that is Trudeau's fault.
