That’s a mistake. The calls are CKNY-TV-11.
They have to apply to remove these rebroadcasters from the respective licenses.
Mystery though:  on another board someone at Bell is telling a contributor that Oil Springs will be converted to HD next May ?!?!

Also, I read somewhere that ch. 36 will be no longer allowed in Canada. Our top channel will be 35 while in the states it will be 36.
Who knows why...

Sharp eye (or should I say ear) RA. The IRCP transmitter has been off the air since at least Wednesday. I must admit I don’t check it that often.
They recently replaced the 3 separate FM antennas on the tower with one master antenna. I think the work was done in 2017..

This is a picture [from google images] of the 1st radio I cut my teeth on.
http://i65.tinypic.com/2nizl1s.jpg

I think Mom & Dad got it for me for Christmas. I was about 11.
I went through the AM dial noting all the AM stations I could hear especially at night. Also tuned in many FM stations to. One day I was picking up skip from NYC. Wow.
Back in the day, there was hardly any interference on AM and there were very few FM stations around here [Peterborough].
The radio also came with an VHF band. As well as aircraft, I could listen to the police and fire dept. Both were analog-duplex back then.
I couldn't figure out though how to listen to shortwave stations. Later, did I learn, 'you need to have a shortwave band for that'. Little did I know.
I got about 20 years out of that set. I regret I did not keep it.

It was always a poor choice in frequency. Wouldn’t 92.7 have been be a better choice?
They would have to address Trent Radio in Peterborough.

NT1010 was right to fight to keep 860. It is a vastly superior frequency to 1010. Here in Peterborough, 1010 is ok during the day. At night 1010 gets hammered mostly by WINS New York. WINS runs a directional pattern that is suppose to keep its signal away from this part of Canada but they still send enough signal to make CFRB un-listenable at night around these parts. All the other Toronto AM's are bad at night as well except for 680 and 740.

Odd that they make no mention of the channels they are moving to. Guess viewers are on their own.

I suspect all they are going to do is turn the transmitter off, re tune it and the antenna [or a least the combiner] and turn it back on. They are the only VHF TV on the tower so maybe there is no combiner.

CFTO has to move because WHAM in Rochester is moving from 13 to 9, but I even though it is planned, I don't see a real reason why CKVR has to change channels.

Bancroft is still on air on but ch. 2. Also CFTO has an analog repeater on ch. 21 at Severn Falls [Orillia] and the other analog in the area is the CKNY repeater at Dwight on Ch. 11.

You will get Peterborough commercials on the Oshawa repeater - or do you notice a difference between the 2 signals content wise?
I wonder if you are getting some sort of mixing product.

The CHNS towers in Halifax still stand. Also in Quebec City the CHRC array is still there.

Back to CHSC, the CP for getting this back on air expires Apr. 20 this year.
