For the record, Fox STILL hasn't announced their fall schedule(save for Friday Night SmackDown & Fox College Football on Saturdays)...and it's almost June. They DO have 6 new shows debuting, however; where they go is another question.

Lacy's always been the kind of person who had a subtle wit; it may have taken a few seconds for you to get the point of a quip he made but it was ALWAYS funny.

Considering that Lacy had a COVID scare last year, that may well have been the impetus for him to hang up the microphone.

Outside of super powered WTSS and WDCX, I have lost all Buffalo FM stations here in northern North York. Most of them used to come in like locals in the 70s and 80s. Those days are long, long gone.

It should be noted that WBUF/92.9 is also a super-powered station, broadcasting at 76 KW(it had been at 92 KW years ago, but when they moved their antenna they reduced their power). Ditto WNED/94.5; it's at 94 KW(and like WBUF it was at one point more powerful(at 104 kW), but they also reduced power when their broadcast tower had to undergo structural modifications.

Meanwhile, I'm already curious as to where McGuire from "Vanessa and McGuire" is. Vanessa is flying solo and no mention was made of McGuire, even though the host from the shift before (who was on from 10-3 and not 10-2 as the website says) had specified that Vanessa and McGuire will be coming on after him.

It's possible that the McGuire of Vanessa and McGuire hasn't come in as yet. Down here in Buffalo, Cassiday Proctor was aware that she'd be getting a partner for her morning show at WEDG(103.3 the Edge), but he didn't arrive for a few weeks(Cass started, if memory serves, last November...and Anthony Wise didn't come in until early to mid December).

McGuire is the national Country midday host for Stingray, which he will continue to do. Vanessa is the afternoon host at Z95.3 Vancouver, which I hear she will also continue to do. Technology! Multitasking!

SPEAKING of multitasking...Cass and Anthony do VT for a Cumulus station in Erie, WXKC(Classy 100). Cass does middays, while Anthony does PM drive.

Small point of order: Yes, Scripps DID buy Ion Media-but it divested a number of Ion stations before completing the purchase in order to stay within local and national ownership limits(also, since Buffalo has less than 8 independently-owned full power TV stations, it wouldn't have been able to pursue a duopoly here in any case). Inyo Broadcast Holdings owns WPXJ now.

What on earth is CTV doing starting their coverage at 6:30?  I know the polls will soon be closed in Newfoundland but really, just how much filler do they have until numbers start coming in?

Which reminds me.  I was a deputy returning officer in a poll two elections ago.  I was stunned that the ballots are stilled counted by hand.  There's got to be a better way to do this.  I can just imagine the headaches if they changed to a ranked ballot and still counted by hand.

Personally, as an American, count me as surprised that the majority of the election drama is USUALLY settled by the time I get to bed. Here in the states, there have been times(especially in the last 2 presidential elections)where the winner wasn't determined until early in the morning. And most of OUR voting machines are electronic. You can't hack a paper ballot and a pencil; you CAN hack into a voting machine.

Depends on which Citynews you speak of & whether or not the content will be local or Canada wide.
680 will hopefully continue to be a news wheel, but for the stations with talk content, CityNews 1310 might be an example of what to expect.

570 in Kitchener & 95.7 in Halifax do much the same...all news in AM & PM drive, talk in other dayparts(95.7 carries CBS Sports Radio, and is also the home for the QMJHL's Halifax Mooseheads; 570 News is on the Blue Jays network and also carries CBS Sports Radio).

On the bright side, at least Rogers has learned their (Toronto) lesson that people don't want a "NO DJ'S ON JACK" station. They want personality. Boom gets that. That's why they're doing incredibly well where Jack failed.

And as a Buffaloian who proudly has Boom as one of my car presets(and listens to the station when I can...its signal makes it to Buffalo fairly well), it's a damned sight better than what WHTT does when it comes to classic hits. Only 2 live & local personalities-Bill Lacy in AM drive & Joe Siragusa in PM drive, they get someone from out of town presumably on ISDN to do middays and they have John Tesh in evenings. Other examples in local radio: Kiss is live ONLY in AM drive.  Star 102.5 is only live in AM & PM drive.
