One thing I noticed. seven songs were on the chart for a minimum of ten weeks. Back in 1968/69. a song rarely lasted more than nine weeks on the chart. One of the exceptions was Hey Jude which lasted eleven weeks. However seven of those weeks were at #1. So it climbed and fell pretty quickly.

Did you know this actually happened in real life and was not a marketing stunt. The WKRP  idea came from a Dallas radio station stunt where turkeys were thrown off the back of a truck. The turkey drop became an annual event in 1946 in Yellville, Arkansas. It was started by the local American Legion to celebrate wild turkey conservation in the Ozarks. Originally dropped off the roof of the Marion County Courthouse roof, in the early 1960's the town began using small airplanes to drop the birds. Amid growing controversy and safety concerns the local Chamber of Commerce and organizers decided to end the event in 2017. I found a video online of the 1983 turkey drop in a news report from KFSM CBS5 in Fort Smith. However, I don't know how to post it here.

I was never a Wheel of Fortune fan, but that stupid shopping thing at the finale always seemed really dumb to me - forcing you to use the money you won to buy stuff you didn't really want or need. I'll decide where my winnings go, thank you very much.

It's better now, although I rarely if ever watch it.

Jeopardy is a far better show.

Agreed. But the studio audience for Wheel is HUGE compared to the Jeopardy one.

The great irony is that the changes they made don't please either side.

For those opposed to the White House, the recent hiring of the new exec. producer is seen a sop to the President and people on the left won't watch the show.

Those in favour of the leader have never trusted CBS News and getting them away from the Fox propganda arm is next to impossible, so winning them over is also a difficult task.

That doesn't leave much reason for those in the middle to tune in. But losing audience when your main man is off does not bode well in either case.

So I guess it is the mushy middle aka fly over country that tune in nightly to either ABC's WNT or NBC's NN.

I am a csual sports fan.I watch the NFL because I run a small [50 entrants] pool. I watch the CFL  to watch the Argos win and the Tiger-Cats to lose. MLB and NHL have long seasons, so I only watch the occasional game until after each leagues All Star Break. When teams start jockeying for playoff positions, My viewing becomes more steady.

The Eye Network continues to rule in Daytime [TPIR, Y&R, B&B] and Primetime [NCIS's, FBI's, Survivor} but It continues to be an embarassment in the Wake Up and Evening News timeslots. How embarassing?  What ever CBS broadcasts to compete with Today and GMA, [The name has been changed four times] has been in 3rd place since the mid 1980's. As for the Evening News, it has consistently been in 3rd place since 1990.

I have three wallets. One for cash only [Front left pocket] A second wallet, folder actually for my drivers licence, insurance, ownership and a third wallet for credit/debit/health cards etc. These two go in my front right pocket with keys. Back pockets for loose change only. So if I lose my main wallet, all I lose is cash.

I am sure the CBC Television could have been up and running in 1948 or 49. But in typical Canadian fashion the Federal Government hummed, hawed and dithered before making a decision in 1952 that television was a good idea. Meanwhile viewers that could afford a set got addicted to what WBEN was offering. Judging by the explosion of antennas pointed to Buffalo in the 50's, 60's and 70's GTA residents preferred what ch 2,4 and 7 were broadcasting over what 6, 9 and 11 had available. The only exception might be HNIC and local news.
