What does 'all IPTV is shutting down' mean?

I think I'm mainly referring to this:  https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/police-shutdown-an-illegal-iptv-service-with-50-million-subscribers/

I'm not sure what the future of IPTV will be now, but I do know that if I do not get American commercials, along with UK and Australian ads I will not be happy.

I use IPTV to get the American commercials and also to enjoy TV from the UK, Australia and other (English language) parts of the world.

However, effective immediately, once you finish off your IPTV membership, all IPTV is shutting down.
No renewals will be granted. Some IPTV services have shut down with paid customers, left with no service.
This is very sad.

I may also be a paying customer of Rogers cable, but I still want my IPTV!!!

For $100 you can find out who the plates actually belong to, (In Toronto) but I think you need a police investigation permission to grant that.

Best Buy is actually closing some stores.
The North York centre store is now closed. I'm not aware of other locations.
Their "Deep pocket" is also tied up in recent renovations to their existing stores, so I hope you're still right after BB went on a renovation spree not long ago...

It all depends on content, really.
It's okay to tell a die hard football fan that they're missing an all new Frankie's mysteries on CBC.
That football fan might just ignore it, or tell a family member to go watch on another TV in another room.

Where it might be a bad call is if BT were to encourage switching to CBC Newsworld for Federal election news coverage or something that is too competitive with City TV to deserve any mention...

IPTV is not illegal in Canada. It's a gray area.
Streaming is legal.
Don't like that? Then Shut down your stream and go back to the way you made money in the 80's.
(not literally!! What I mean is force a method where Super Channel can only be seen on a Rogers Nextbox exclusively, or something-including a bell box of some sort...etc)

There's gotta be a way to do that. How did pay TV get into the home before the days of the internet?

Never seen a station at 0.0 before. How can a station have zero listeners?

It may be an error (ie intended to show 0.1) or it may mean that the station simply paid to be in the book, but honestly, no one tuned in long enough for the tone to count it as listening. (ie dial scanners or button pushers)

How long does a station have to be tuned in to be counted by the PPM?

When was the last time a commercial caused you to try a completely new product or switch brands?  After a certain age your preferences are locked in.  That makes an older audience less desirable to advertisers.

I fail to agree. I think it's the JIVE phone that targets seniors and anyone who feels the need to have large buttons on their smart phone...to name one example.

Anyone who thinks it can't be done just isn't trying hard enough.

I'm guessing they wanted someone who sounded younger and would work cheap.

If he wants to continue, there's always WECK.

I worry that they'll go even cheaper a la "no dj's on Jack" style and have an even more music work day with no one at all on air. THAT or they've found a John Tesh or whoever to toss on for mid days...

(Hint to hosts: if you don't give them all those lovely FREE on-air mentions, maybe they'll have to buy time and you won't get fired as fast for going over the salary ceiling!)

Sigh.

Adding to what you just mentioned, rent is crazy high where Chick-fil-a chose to open.
Not having to pay for advertising is EXACTLY how they can afford to pay the high rent to be where they are currently.

I know nothing about their lease arrangement, but I do believe that once they have to start paying for advertising, they may have to relocate in Toronto to a lower rent space...one that would open first before the Bloor location closes. (should it come to that...)

I have an old cassette tape somewhere with Howard Stern yelling "I'M NOT CALLING MY STATION SHOME...IT'S CHOM AND THAT'S THAT!!

"We are also on Q in Toronto...see that's easy...it's not Cleh, it's not Cloooooo It's CUE..."

Stern never should have aired in Montreal in the first place.

Another quote from Stern on his first day in the Toronto and Montreal markets:
"OH we're supposed to KEEP the french audience. Nobody told me! HA HA HA HA!!"

I don't think I fully understand.
Are these traditionally games that would not be televised no matter what anyway?
Or were actual games pulled from the intent to be televised?

Wasn't there a time when select games were radio only games anyway? Aren't these few games the same games?

Is it just me, or has radio and T-V been taken over by endless ads for ambulance chasing lawyers, and mortgage hawkers whose real agenda is probably to get you to put up your home's equity then repo your house?

Diamond and Diamond, Preszler Law, Kornblum Law followed by Harold the mortgage guy, Capitol Direct, and even Alpine credit which has funny ads, but the bottom line is they all want you to hand over equity in your home to them!
And these ads have saturated radio and T-V relentlessly -- oh yeah and I forgot "Magical Credit" and "Cash Money."
It never stops!

Yeah really eh? Where's all the ads for Pizza Nova and other food places.
I know I recently heard an ad for Pizza Nova on Boom 97.3, so maybe the questions is, why just the music side and not the talk radio side...???
People who listen to music radio get just as hungry as those who enjoy talk radio...

The TV ads were also very good.
Yes, they parodied U2 instead of coming up with something more original. SO WHAT? Still very good.

I believe very strongly that there are enough people choosing to accept it by choice.
Forcing it just ties up the 9 11 lines with people that have nothing better to do but report that they have not seen anything yet. (or whatever they do or say-I wouldn't know, I don't call 911 to complain. I'm not that stupid!)

A reboot is possible but
"In August 2017, it was announced that You Can't Do That on Television would be getting a reboot. Original creator Roger Price would be serving as executive producer, while Jimmy Fox of Main Event Media would be developing the project.[8] As of 2019, the reboot has yet to find a buyer."
