One thing I have noticed. The stations in Dothan,Ala, Pittsburgh, Ks and New Orleans that were received in the GTA recently are all 100,000 watt blowtorches. Are lower powered FM's, like our Toronto stations affected by e-skip as well? Grand Rapids, Mi has two monster signals that likely make it down south when e-skip conditions arise. 93.7 WBCT [320k] and 105.7 WSRW 265K. Although the latter might be less likely. I can't recall getting e-skip above CHUM FM.

Pretty sure I was getting Latin stations from Florida on 106.7 and 107.5. A few other stations at 107.5 as well. Don't think there's a clear ID on those unfortunately.

Around 1 p.m. yesterday in North York I had WXDJ-Fort Lauderdale on 106.7 (matching up to their webstream) and on 107.5 it was WAMR-fm Miami with the "Amor" slogan.

The link to the Blue Jays Radio Network on the Major League Baseball website still shows 1240-CJCS in Stratford as part of network.  CJCS left 1240 for FM in 2017 (back when John Gibbons was managing the team and Jose Bautista was not yet selling Mary Brown's Chicken).

I think catching the Jays on CJCS now would only be possible if you used Sherman and Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine.

Yes.  No problem hearing WSYR in the car in North York yesterday.  And no doubt they are even stronger in Scarborough.

In Kitchener, checking the on-line web SDR, WKBN can be heard in the daytime.

D.D.

I assume that if the CCC are being held in Tavistock that there will be play-by-play coverage on nearby Stratford's CJCS-FM.

As an aside, I notice that CJCS-1240 is still listed on the Toronto Blue Jays website as being on the Blue Jays Radio Network.  Even though the 1240 stopped coming down for breakfast in 2017.

Well, finally managed to nail down WCHB here in the Kawarthas. Was it a matter of time, or because I exhibited a rare moment of patience? Anyhow, two fairly clear IDs seconds apart, but no other discernable content. Now have just one Michigan station yet to be heard here on 1340, WCSR in Hillsdale MI. Has anyone ever heard that one? I'm also now down to having heard all but 7 AM stations currently on-air in MI. Target list now is: 920 WMPL Hancock, 1110 WUNN Mason, 1220 WBCH Hastings, 1290 WNIL Niles, 1340 WCSR Hillsdale, 1450 WMIQ Iron Mountain, and 1580 St. Johns.

The 1580 St Johns I caught at sunset sign off one day back during the Reagan Administration.  I think that was about 5 call changes ago.       Hancock on 920 I caught once more recently in 2014.

The other Michigan stations you speak of have thusfar eluded me.

And, believe me, I have tried, even listening live to a remote SDR and waiting for similar content on the radio. Maybe when they finally open the Gordie Howe Bridge...

Those call letters sounded familiar to me. Perhaps because bup until 2017 they belonged to what is now 1200 WMUZ which I have occasionally heard in the GTA.

And for a much longer period of time they were on 1440 in Inkster.  Now 1440 has WMKM with gospel music.

WCHB was heard as recently as the end of January at my location in North York in the the jumblemush that is 1340.

Usually at night 1340 is a mishmash of WNCO-Ashland OH, WJOI-Milwaukee WI, WOUB-Athens OH, WMBO-Auburn NY,  WCHB-Royal Oak, WJRW-Grand Rapids and sometimes even WLVL-Lockport.   WMBO will really sticks out as they will be playing the same oldies as on 1390-WFBL in Syracuse ("The Dinosaur").

Not surprising considering the plethora of Family Life Network stations and translators across NY and PA.  And then there's Joy FM, Smile FM, Relevant Radio, EWTN, Ava Maria Radio, K-Love, Air1 etc etc

I wonder how many kiddies in Lockport ask mommy or daddy to put the radio on 100.3 at 7 p.m. so that they can listen to Adventures In Odyssey on W262CQ?.

The land seems to be sold for development. They'd have to relocate. To where, in the GTA? If anything, a move to 106.5 would have made sense. I don't know if Evanov would have had to sign off on CHIN using 103.9, which Evanov's PRIDE once occupied; and frankly if it was good enough for an Evanov station then on 103.9, in a more reasonable universe the CRTC would simply allow it for CHIN (theoretically, of course, since no one is asking for 103.9, that I know of). If the 1250-1320 equipment is being refurbished for CKTB, it's done like dinner, anyhow. CHIN really has been babied by the CRTC. They have 91.9, which is way better in the GTA itself than 1540 ever was. NW, you'd better DX 900 while you can...

Still another couple of years to hear WACA-Laurel MD, WURD-Philadelphia, WKDA-Lebanon TN and WFIA-Louisville battling it out at night on 900.      And still time for me to continue to look for CKBI-Prince Albert

At least CKOC, when I tuned in a minute ago, has carrier current. Just no programming. Their transmitter is on.

CKTB's 610 is nothing but static and no signal at all.

What a way to start 2026!

Checking my recording....At 6 a.m. CKTB listeners would have been treated to WIP-Philadelphia and WTVN-Columbus.    And WHBY-Kimberly WI could be heard under the CKOC carrier.

CHWO was still running the open carrier at  6 a.m. this morning and reappeared mid-song at 7 a.m.    Depending on how carefully you listened, you could hear WPGP-Pittsburgh underneath.

I thought that CKLY didn't move to FM until around 1998, which likely caused a few distraught listeners to jump into the Scugog River.   I believe Rickey was back in Oakland that year.  So he probably was able to listen to KNBR in the dugout with teammate Matt Stairs, as long as it didn't disturb manager Art Howe.

The question is, during his time in Toronto did Rickey listen to CHOG, as CFTR had flipped to all news a few weeks before he was traded by Oakland to Toronto.  Or was Rickey a devotee of Sports Radio The Fan on 1430?

If he did listen to 680, was he hoping CFTR would have transmitter issues and go off the air so he might have a clear shot at KNBR, "the Sports Leader".

I wonder if Rickey ever went over to Devon White's place after Blue Jays games to see if they could catch KNEW carrying the Oakland A's games on 910.   Although I guess CKLY might have made things tough for him.

None of them go very far and even if you have one in your city, depending on where you live, they can be hard to get at night.

Actually, there is no difference between day and night power with "graveyarders" now.  The Class "D" stations can operate with 1000 watts at night now also if they wish.

For what it is worth, in North York most evenings/overnights 900 is dominated by a combo of WURD-Philadelphia and WKDA-Lebanon TN.   WURD supposedly running 124 watts at night and WKDA supposedly running 136 watts I believe.   As sunrise approaches WCPA in Clearfield PA and WACA in Laurel MD are also present.   I just hope I can snag Prince Albert (CKBI) before this move actually happens.

I did note CHIN on during the nightmiddle at 2 a.m. about two weeks ago.   No trouble hearing what KXEL-Waterloo ("where Iowa comes to kvetch) was up to at that time.

How do 92.7, 95.9 and 97.5 sound the same? Toss in not one but two campus-community stations (94.9, 106.9). And three CBC stations. Not to mention stations in immediately outlying areas, like Woodstock, St. Thomas. Not bad for a town...

I find that 1290 (CJBK) and 1410 (CKSL) sound the same to me.
