really hate what they are doing with closing all this stuff, unlike weather radio, where receivers were for sale, i have been looking for a wile and have been unable to find a clock that syncs to CHU... unless i build one my self... which i was planning on...
at least the talking clock, 613-745-1576 will stay up!

in other words, after i listen to 40 min of led zeppelin and Bruce Springsteen, don't suddenly force me to listen to 10 minutes of summer of 69'
and that's the issue with forcing Canon on digital media. a medium about user choice cannot be regulated the same way we are!

I find when Radio One does get into politics with phone in programs,.
when dose radio one have real live programming? i didn't grow up with the CBC so i wanted to give it a shot, i tried listening for about 2 weeks, leading up to the April election, i would tune in around 9 AM and 5 PM for my commute, the only program related to the election, was a premade "we talked to Canadians in this riding" show, every other time i tuned in it was random podcasts with heavy productions on random topics, the only other one i remember was frogs in Africa, the other topics i simply cannot remember, it was just so off topic and unimportant, it was like i was listening to CFRB or CFIQ overnight and weekend programming.
is CBC one not the place for news, talk topics and national updates?

i had been hearing rumors that the brokered producers have been leaving CJMR in droves, i checked the location of their TX site, looks like in recent years development has encroached right on top of them, i think its safe to say, they would not pass safety code 6.

as one who grew up on Q i just dont listen that much anymore, and when i do listen to any corus rock station its always playing Evanescence! i much prefer Giant FM out of Niagara, they largely still play classic rock, as well as more rock sounding modern rock(if that makes sense): sheepdogs, foo fighters, black keys etc.
other then the odd killers song, and the omni present Bryan Adams. its a really good rock station

| SOWNY » Bizarre Video Game Lets You Be The News Director » June 25, 2025 2:14 pm |
yes ive played the demo for this!
also check out killer frequency! its a little bit different.
you play as a late night DJ, then suddenly people start calling in about a string of murders across town,
since the police station had its power cut by the serial killer, your job is to guide your callers to safety, keep the show on air, and search the radio station between breaks for clues.
i found the writing to be fairly accurate, around the radio side, they really encapsulated that small market station politics feel in my opinion! station owner is a conspiracy theorist, you got that one guy who keeps calling in trying to plug his own business for free, etc.
originally it was for VR, but you can play it on a screen. I recommend it!

i have an HDR-16 and its close, but not ideal. running on C Cell batteries is a pain. and you need a aux since Bluetooth isn't an option. but with AM and FM, both bands with HD. RDS for FM, and i think it has some basic clock functions. and wile you have no weather WX, you have the US alert system? i set my radio up to respond to all alerts from all NY counties and a few Mi that border Ontario!

Until reading the topic of this thread, I didn't think there was a difference between "slider" and "fader", they're the same thing to me.
yea im having a trouble understanding the difference between slider and fader, are they not the same?! Wheatstone boards have faders right? and i know McCurdy made both linear potentiometer (fader/ slider) and turn potentiometer (what i always called pots or turn pots) boards. though I'm no where near old enough to have ever seen one in action lol!

i voted this morning, went to my old elementary school, the girl checking my ID did not seem trilled about the fact that i never received the voting slip, " not enough time to call an election, plus all the snow last few weeks delayed postal," (i have a community mailbox so i doubt it) i reminded her " and we came off the strike so they must of been backlogged" and she agreed " yes what a terrible time to call an election" i wouldn't consider this partisanship. But certainly an interesting exchange!
| SOWNY » Is "Zonecasting" The Next Big Thing For FM Radio? How Does It Work? » December 24, 2024 11:50 am |
great! ill just deploy my collection of vintage FM exciters that's taking up storage space lol!
if there is one thing that drives me crazy, its trying to get onto the roof tops of some of these buildings downtown, it is harder to get clearance from their internal management, then it is for the CN tower,
so deploying a vast network of little synced FMs is not a exciting prospect for this guy.
maybe if you only look after 1 FM you might have the time?
anyway besides that i don't think "this is it" "the regulation to save radio" that US broadcasters keep asking the FCC for! and as for the CRTC... last i checked they were still "out of the office"
MERRY CHRISTMAS FOLKS!

once we cut them loose, if they fail its on them, and if they site that "operating TV and Radio in the modern era is not sustainable" then we should all in unison turn and look at the CRTC
who would also apparently be on the chopping block

i came to say this, i was playing with my HD receiver an hour ago and the 95.3 FM HD3 is still active and still playing static!
i wonder if its a AM tuner they had set to 900 at the FM site... and i wonder if it has been picking up any DXing lol!

Was it not that long ago that there was LTA's on Thursday-sunday's, every night from about 10pm to 1 or 2am?
Has the club scene died down or is radio not worth it anymore for cost of advertising?
i suspect it has something more to do with the regulations around live or mixed content and canon, and less to do with the clubs them selves.
