I have had covid twice. 6 weeks ago I had similar symptoms but tested negative, although my wife did test positive.  I am still having phlegm build up in my throat  and having to constantly clear it , and a slight sporadic cough . I am thinking I may have the RSV virus. But it is getting slowly better.

Living in the south eastern corner of Georgian Bay, I find Barrie's Rock 95 the go to for traffic reports. During the mid day period, the on air DJ will even give updates if there is a major delay and put callers on the air from the scene . Traffic volume in Wasaga and Collingwood has become damneer GTA like at times, prompting me to sell my house and move 4 hours further north next month. I avoid the GTA now like the black plague and only plan to come south for my daughters graduation ceremony from U of T law school next year.

I wonder if there would be a large enough  following for a classic country format ? The 820 signal has some strength through out southern Ontario.

That theory seems redundant to me. Larry King, Howard Stern, Rush etc  all made their success taking calls and bantering off them.

Speaking of TV, I watched a movie on Crave yesterday called " Plane ".  Produced and starring Gerard Butler. It was actually very well done and a good thriller . I recommend it.

Again, I don't care. It's on her to face any consequences for her actions on the judgement day. To compare her to any religious figure or a person who actually suffered for it , seems a pale argument in my opinion. My point is at 82 years old, it is a sad way to end her life, despite the circumstance. If you guys think I am defending her , you are incorrectly comprehending my meaning.

I just posted in the hit the post thread about an experience I had with my son about 20 years ago , we were listening to an old air check of mine and he asked why I talked over the intro's to the songs. He said he would rather listen to a CD or his IPOD to hear the whole song. He is now 30, and never listens to radio, barely ever even watches live tv. That is today's world, playlists and streaming. I have said here many times, I loved being a DJ, but I have never regretted leaving the industry when I did.

I know in a fast paced Top 40 format, it worked and was necessary . I find it annoying when FM jox do it, especially rock tunes. I recall explaining it  to my son when he was around 10, and we were listening to an old air check of mine, he said " I would rather just listen to a CD or Ipod and hear the whole song ". He is 30 now, and  that is likely why so many people today of his generation avoid radio and listen to their playlists.

The only sketch I found really  amusing was the subway one with the young man asking for a chance at a job. I recall they have done this sketch in past seasons also. The Trump segments are always funny as the actor doing the impersonation is one of the best I have seen.

Bomanvillebob, do any of the AM stations in Halifax still exist or have they all jumped to FM ? I worked the overnight shift at CHNS in the summer into fall of 1976 while also attending the broadcasting college [ name escapes me ] that was in the basement of the Scotia Square building. I was there under a Canada Manpower/ UI program.

CHIC's last incarnation was CKMW 790. I was the last morning man before the change to the ethnic format and it was also the end of my time as a broadcaster. The only co-workers that I am aware of still on GTA airwaves now is Maie Potts and Craig Venn [ who was a high school intern then ] . It was a great time for me, CFNY shared studio and office space with us, I was able to rub shoulders with David Marsden, Fred Patterson,  Live Earl Jive and Beverly , Jim James, Ron Bruchel , Mike Stafford and the list goes on. Gene Stevens hired me and I thank him for that oppurtunity.

Not Corrus or Global related per say but in the same theme of brutality , there was a poster here some years back that used  an actual name that he used on air, as his moniker on the board. The surname was Marshall. He always referred to anything Bell related as Bhell. Who knew he would eventually proven to be a prophet.

Mic'em -- Have you investigated your reception options around Elliot Lake, yet?

Gio, there is a FM outlet there, A Moose affiliate , but I'm not sure where it is broadcast from. It sounded voice tracked the day last month that we were there to see the house we are buying. I only had to go about 30km east to pick up the rock FM from Sudbury. So, once we are living there, i will just scan the dial and/or play my large collection of burned Cd's. Both my cars have Cd players. I just put  a new stereo in my old truck, no CD, but has USB, my son is making a stick for me that I will use in it. It is a fair weather ride only as you know. It was the truck that I had up there, I moved my brother to Blind River, so the radios in the Kia and Malibu may have better reception as far as receiving Sudbury radio. I also will look into playing my phone thru Bluetooth so I can receive Max FM ,but that will depend on cost.

There has been a Christian based FM broadcasting out of Barrie for at least 15 years, likely more. They have a repeater in Owen Sound also if I recall correctly. In the early days of their tenure, they aired spoken word shows that also were on the Buffalo station, of which I don't remember the call letters, as well as music. I don't know if that is still the practice.

During the 80's, Steve Dahl and Garry Meier's daily broadcast was replayed during the overnight period. I was driving an overnight route for a major auto parts supplier then, and the signal from AM1000 boomed into the cab of the truck after getting out of the GTA. They were an entertaining duo and they helped me pass the long nights through those years. The station eventually became an ESPN outlet and then Art Bell became the overnight go to. https://www.radiohalloffame.com/steve-dahl-and-garry-meier

I lived in too many areas across the country to list any of the then, but now, on AM, 590, 640, 680, 740, 820 and 1010. I primarily listen to 640 as the signal is strong in the Blue Mountain region. On the FM side, 89.1, 93.1, 95.7, 97.7 [ Collingwood] , 104.1 and 105.9. I primarily listen to 89.1[ Max FM Orillia] or 95.7 [ Rock 95 Barrie].

The entire series was filmed in the GTA and surrounding area. One episode has scenes filmed at the gas station at Coppin's Corner, just outside of Goodwood where another  world famous made in Ontario series was filmed. No Schitt.
