I agree there are a lot of local commercials and Tillsonburg centric events promoted but as MJ Vancouver noted, the news is pre-recorded by freelancers who have home studios like Lisa Brandt. 

There were multiple tornado warnings for the London area around 4:00... it sounded like the end of the world was coming with multiple phones going off at our family gathering. The little kids were trauamatized. We didn't have TV or radio on but would have watched the 6:00 News but of course CTV DOES NOT DO WEEKEND NEWS in this area. There's nothing on the CTV London website about any touchdowns, so we will wait until Monday to find out I guess.

I noticed all the Peterborough and Oshawa commercials on Global too. I didn't see the 11:00 news but if it was Global Durham rather than the usual Global Toronto news... something significant must have happened.
 or a technical glitch. Weird!

I'm guessing they just wanted to highlight the Miami roots of their Nightly News star for World News Tonight viewers who couldn't find David Muir after the WPLG affiliation switch.
 

I do know him... from prior to his radio station ownership. He was with a company designed to increase local revenue for radio & TV stations. He was extremely focused on getting the results we wanted and we did. 

I'm quite impressed with the portfolio of stations he has opened and/ or acquired. Continued good luck JON.

The studios of CKOT and CJDL are currently in London. CKOT identifies as London-Tillsonburg, I don't know how the country station identifies. Presumably they  will move the stations back to Tillsonburg and give up the attempt to be a London station, although the signal is quite good and the existing ac format is well executed.

Actually there is no weekend local news on CKCO and most other CTV stations outside the big markets. Bell killed that off a couple of years ago.

Canada's Got Talent "jumped  the shark" for me when the first 4 contenstants (or more) this year were from other countries. I stopped watching but nice to hear someone from Newfoundland won the million dollars this year. 

I missed the first episode of America's Got Talent which also suffers from the too many contestants from other countries to match the name of the show problem. I usually record the 2 hour show and watch it all later in about 40-45 minutes by skipping through commercial breaks and acts I don't particularly care for. 

The flip of this was Miami talk show host Neil Rogers on 560 WMAQ. His 10am - 2pm show was consistently one of the top rated shows in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market but he was living and broadcast his show from Toronto and never tried to hide that fact.

He regularly talked about Toronto and spending his afternoons at Woodbine betting on the ponies.There were billboards all over south Florida with his face on them and one Saturday morning I was walking up Yonge Street, waiting for a light to change when I recognized the guy that would be coming toward me. I waited and when he crossed said, you're Neli Rogers aren't you? He said yes and we had quite a conversation about his home studio set up and how it all worked.

He retired in 2009 and sadly passed away in 2010. 

A good read and it really does apply anywhere and everywhere. 

The 24 hour news service from Citytv looks an awful lot like CP24 and while it was pretty rough in the beginning it's settled down to a pretty slick looking channel.

Oddly, it seems to be turning up everywhere lately. I first noticed it at the gym which used to show TSN or Sportsnet on some monitors and CP24 on others but now it's CityNews 24/7 only and has been for the past several months. Today, while having my car serviced it was on in the waiting room at the dealership and I've seen it elsewhere.

Rogers must be compensating the businesses showing the channel which still has a way to go to catch up to CP24 in terms of content at least. Maybe they're providing free cable to these businesses? Or is there another financial incentive for them to swith from CP24 to CityNews 24/7? 

Inquiring minds want to know.
