Thanks Ry....err Fjiri.  When I worked at 'RB they had a sounder and another newscaster interrupt you in the middle of a story.  Didn't last long...newsroom was pissed.  Part of that 1977 mentality of "as you heard first on WOLD radio".   See you at work tomorrow Fjiri.

Terry "I have an adopted Chinese daughter and five cars" from Port Perry has not been on the Stafford show for
months.  He's called but not put on-air.   He's also all over 'RB.  The worst is "Jeff from Orillia" right now.  He has been the last caller on some shows and first caller on the next.  There are maybe only three or four screeners in Toronto who can properly screen a show.  The rest don't even know what the topic is or don't care if they're very old, off-topic or just nuts.  BTW a show that relies on only calls can work....if the screener's good.  Callers aren't "prep".

If that's the case Mr. S., then perhaps you can tell us why the podcast of this segment has suddenly disappeared from the 640 website? My guess is the legal department realized it could be dangerous and decided that discretion was the better part of valour. If the way it was handled was just a host making up an angle to get a topic going, then it should still be online. I know you hate this kind of stuff, and I believe you're a lot more careful on your show, but unfortunately, we live in an overly litigious society where someone will sue you if you sneeze the wrong way on air. So like it or not, this stuff matters.

I highly doubt it was removed by order of legal on the last day of fiscal.  There are bigger fish to fry on Dockside.
I always use alleged because I did news for 15 years.  Today's hosts are often producers pulled from the hallway and put in front of a mic.  680 and CTV bingo-callers use the term "the Six" when nobody over the age of 20
does.  CP 24's graphics are written and spelled at a grade four level.  The CP rule book from 1980 doesn't
apply anymore.....even at Canadian Press.

I would add people like me who hear two songs, don't know them and back to the Blue Jays plus the elderly who went to CBC for synchronized wrestling in Rio and registered on PPM before going to CSI: Suspicious Elderly Deaths

If you only know the five most overplayed of their songs and that's it, you're a bad Canadian for not watching?  This country has some weird rules.  I respect their longtime hardcore fans.  Always have.  But there's been a lot of bandwagon-jumping, grief-whoring over the last two months.

What have I done now?  Oh, I read an on-air email.  Thanks for catching that Bored Op. I wouldn't trash Mike Bullard because I haven't met or worked with him and he and I have similar likes/dislikes.   I HAVE heard Moore attack Oakley and I don't know why.  In the current reality it would be like Pontiac attacking Oldsmobile.  We're all facing irrelevancy.

As for throwing mud, I've heard that 'RB is preparing promos that will trash AM 640 as "tabloid radio", "trash", "electronic ebola" (I just made that up) etc.  Probably just an off-air caller, claiming to be from Bell Media, pulling somebody's leg at work.  I can't see anyone at the Mighty 1010 using those delicious, expensive radio sticks on Southdown Road to deliberately promote, even negatively, another frequency.  Crazy business these days.  And I'm not Ziggy either.

Steve, you could have mentioned my Facebook post by name if you were looking to roast me as "right wing".  The point of my post was that on Facebook people are being ridiculous on the issue..an issue I haven't attempted as a topic for that exact reason.  I guess you didn't interpret the post as intended.  Sorry about that.  Feels just like when you were "the boss".

If you never worked for John Hayes, you're a lucky man!  Gary Slaight was a mercurial maniac at times; butter wouldn't melt in Hayes' mouth.  At least Gary has a spark of humanity.

I remember finishing an afternoon shift, 12 or so interviews...calls, etc.  Got on the elevator at 7:00 PM and Hayes
is there.  No hello, just...."what was on the show today?".  I literally blanked and said "a whole bunch of stuff".  Next day the PD hauled me in to complain that Hayes was bitching that his hosts don't even remember their show content.  I smiled the day he carried his bankers box with his assistant carrying his office art out of 1 Dundas.

That is inbeleivable!
