It was the initial format of MOVE, yes. There wasn't any rock/alt though. Largely called "Rhythmic AC" at the time.
 

Yes, I'm quite familiar with the Rhythmic AC format. But I do seem to remember a smattering of pop/rock titles being added later... Roxette comes to mind.

iHeart in the US tried what you're suggesting with GenX Radio, but it didn't go anywhere. Modern AC had more legs years earlier, but ultimately didn't last either. I do like the idea, though. Perhaps a more focussed version of GenX, without the Hip-Hop and Alternative extremes.

Did you even listen to the station? Instrumentals were always at least 75% of the broadcast hour.

I beg to differ. There was enough singing to make me tune out. Some of that singing was way too much noise.

I've listened to Crystal Radio pretty steadily the last couple of years and never heard vocals exceeding 25% of the playlist, so I know you aren't listening to it, at least not recently. Maybe 10 years ago? I'm sure Iain would set the record straight. 

Crystal Radio's website now goes to an Ajax weather page, and I'm no longer able to play it on TuneIn or Streema. I'd hate for the station to disappear - such a great station doing the Beautiful/Easy Listening format. Perhaps our esteemed former moderator can chime in?

Stingray CHR properties in Calgary, St. John's and Sudbury have all transitioned to Hot AC in the last few weeks... I can't see it happening to the flagship Ottawa station, but in this advertising climate, who knows?!?

Then there's this:

I'm not normally a stickler for this kind of thing, but this is a perfect example of a story that's not really much of a story, which is, essentially,  it's cold outside! But that's not enough for a decent yarn, so it's padded.

I hate to admit it and I'm not being hypocritical, but I've done it myself too many times to count. One of the dangers of a one-fact story.

Problem is, those sentences have no typos in terms of spelling. Since most living breathing editors were fired in favour of "running a spellcheck", these grammatically incorrect sentences will always make it through that "editorial net". A human editor is required to catch every other nuance of writing.

There have been "grammarcheck" programs/apps for years. One would think that software specifically developed for journalists and news gathering organizations would be available by now.
