For those of you radio loving folks who like to check out the Radio Discussion Boards in Buffalo, I am here to tell you they gave me a permanent ban because I said a bad word they didn’t like.
I was the only person on that board who actually got people talking by giving insight and education to the world of radio ownership, but they couldn’t handle the truth, so they let losers who continue to have no fact based opinions, and bounce me off.
I should not be surprised. We have built 1KW WECK BUFFALO into a top 10 rated Buffalo metro station, and the top rated Oldies station in the entire U.S. based on Nielsen AQH . They are very jealous.
Stay happy you’re in Canada, home of the great northern nights. At least there you have some freedom of speech.
Hope I can add to this board in some helpful way. From what I have seen already, the posters on this board are far smarter than the Buffalo board
I have been a Canadian radio fan since born in Buffalo. Some great stations for sure. For those who say there are not enough great Canadian artists, I say that Chilliwack is one of the top artists on my yacht rock station in Key West. Www.key937.com.

I love the fact that your discussion board is a civil discussion board, with thoughts and rationale , all for your love of radio. Like me. I have been in Buffalo radio since I was 15. I am now 53. I have always loved it. It’s really refreshing to see how you folks are civil. Check out the Buffalo boards and see how the folks hate me. It’s really pathetic. They just criticize and Monday morning quarterbacking. This board wants to make me move to Canada! A dream of mine has always been to see the Northwest Territories. I hear the northern lights are beautiful. Again, congrats on having a civil board. Although, the post headline put the arrow in me! LOL

Thanks for the welcome. I can’t say I get that same passion on the Buffalo boards. i have always been a fan of Canadian radio. Being in Buffalo, we get plenty of stations. I grew up listening to Q107. WECK has a selling affiliation with CFLZ AND CJED. That is why I do a shift at 101.1, 11 to 2. I am not extremely familiar with the Canadian artists, but I enjoy artists like Rush, Triumph, Saga, Aldo Nova, Loverboy, etc. Itsca fun shift to do. I am very fortunate to be an independent owner, but my staff makes it great. They all have a passion for radio, and that’s what it takes. I am the "Maverick" owner of WECK AM/FM. Buffalo's #1 Radio Station. I found this board in a google search.
First let me set the record straight.....WECK subscribes to the Nielson ratings. Someone made a comment of "not a threat to other stations" and "not taken seriously".
Well, just FYI, June 2020, WECK is a top 10 metro station persons 12 plus, BEATING huge Buffalo stations like WBUF Jack-FM, WEDG 103.3 FM, WLKK 107.7 FM, WGR 550AM, and coming tenths of a point from stations like WTSS STAR 102.5, WMSX 96.1 The Breeze. These are the facts. When I bought the stations they had a 0.9 share 3 years ago. We now have a 3.4 share 12 plus, and in the top 5 45 plus. Look it up!
So now, to the billboards. The reason the radio industry is dying is because there are not enough owners like me who like to stir it up. The stations I mentioned above are all owned by Wall Street and some of the biggest radio companies in the U.S. WECK is the ONLY radio station in the top 10 that is independently owned. Why do you think WECK is having success? Do you THINK it could be because of marketing like this? I think it could be....
Too many stations have just coiled up and got boring. I don't subscribe to that. I am a competitor and in it to win. The billboard is my right for free speech, as our great President Donald Trump would agree with. It is my opinion, and i was very straight with the newspaper about that.
Also, for your further edification, WECK is the number one RATED (By Nielson) in the entire U.S. for 12 plus share. There is not one single other Oldies station in the country that has more share than WECK. Fact! Thanks for letting me chime in here.
Also, Canada has some great radio stations, you can hear me mid-days at CFLZ 101.1FM! Check it out.
