Thank you, Hank for your advise. I'll definitely speak to a professional in regards as to why people repeatedly want to compare and ban someone with differing opinions. I appreciate your admission in regards to bullish behavior and the fact you didn't dispute my post about Kevin. Enjoy your evening and please take care of yourself - admitting what you did takes courage.

Interesting. What about Kevin is wrong? He is the station manager and, until recently, he DID work at Burger King flipping burgers. What is wrong about what I posted?

Good post @BeatleTeunis. Your assessment of me with your vitriolic prose is lightyears more than anything I posted. But, sadly, you won't agree as you're implying you and your posse are the victims. Ironic, isn't it? When a group a self-assessed people group together in negativity, it is bullying plain and simple.

How about actually contribute something positive and lead by example? Can you do that?

SOWNY » Oakley MIA Thursday and Friday this week after two weeks off » December 14, 2019 1:25 pm

Nothing brings lonely people together more than a collective hatred against someone different. Ironic. isn't it? While they cry against the perceived vitriol the different poster publishes, they, themselves spout the very same thing. The difference is, I'm not demanding someone's opinions gets silenced - they are - all the while being bullies. The world is made of different points-of-view -- that's what makes the planet interesting. Disagree if you must, just don't be disagreeable.

Now, back to my question -- what are Oakley's most recent ratings?

SOWNY » Oakley MIA Thursday and Friday this week after two weeks off » December 13, 2019 6:27 pm

Maybe TPTB deduced Oakley's listeners are heading towards the Frat Bois on RB and are grooming Ms. Cranky Resting Face to take over his tedious show. Time to retire his bell, his tagline and his "word o' the day" 32 character word.

Methinks he called Frank Leo and started packing.

The community radio station in Cobourg has their Manager do a show on a Wednesday morning and then he "flys" via the 401 to his job flipping burgers at one of those highway Onroutes.

he constantly gets names wrong in introducing guests or talking about someone in the news,

I hear him get facts wrong, mixed up or otherwise muddled. He often also frequently messes up titles, years when something took place, or has incorrect references to a historic event. Hey, everybody makes mistakes sometimes. And to be fair, Richards actually tries to do a lot of creative things on his show.

But when these lapses happen over and over again, it becomes a huge issue and your credibility suffers, especially on a station dedicated to news. The fact that he tries to laugh it off and play it as a joke in a charming way when occasionally called on it doesn't mitigate the fact that he's wrong so often.

I tend to separate the station from the jock. I don't diminish the STATION's credibility when he's on. In my mind, his ISN'T a "news/topic" show, it's a fluffer, much like the Screaming Mimi @ 7pm.

As to him laugh it off, that's a crutch; and, rarely, crutches are endearing and listenable. How about before he tries something "creative", he actually does the rest of his show properly?

Was Richard's "interview" padded with his oh-so-fake laugh? One doesn't go to his show to learn anything. No, much like the screaming Mimi at 7pm, their shows are placeholders for the endless clusters of commercials.

Robert Turner has spent many multiples of 3.75 in his position.

I'd genuinely be curious where those 8 "producers" are now. Beyond that, I've known jocks that have written into their contracts certain board ops come with them.

Perhaps "those on the way up" don't consider podcasting having a future. Or, let's be honest, needing a board op.

"Idiot comment" from me? That's your opinion. However, as a lifelong staffer in the radio industry, 3.75 years in one position is minimal. Maybe if one works the cash at Walmart. As for you vitriolic labelling, have a pleasant night.

(I did add and wonder how long Robert Turner has helmed RB's morning show.)

SOWNY » Rogers Cable Subscribers May Be Without AMC In 2020 » December 10, 2019 1:11 pm

I never thought I'd live to see the day where some posters here side WITH a cable company? Wow!

That said, Cogeco is the opposite of Rogers -- they used to charge an extra $2/month if you added AMC to their MyMix 10, 20, 30 or 40 pack. Recently, they eliminated that surcharge. For me, AMC has/had two of my favorite shows, "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul".

That said, why doesn't Rogers move AMC out of their P&P and slide it into a separate Pay option? They could charge $10-$15/month and keep both sides "happy". Would I pay that much? Umm, no. But, it's a solution and would quickly gauge whether their subs would be willing to pay FMV.

Why the high churn rate? Either nobody wants to make a career out of being a button pusher or the hosts are impossible to work for. In any event, perhaps they should have left that stat off the announcement.

How long has Robert Turner headed the RB morning show?

SOWNY » Do Radio Hosts Really Have To Use The Products They Shill For? » December 9, 2019 6:41 pm

What about the usual shillers flogging Frank Leo? I mean, please: call "him" and start packing? Interesting, I know of at least TWO jocks that moved and didn't call "him". (Yet, they claim they would NEVER make a move without him.)

It's all BULLSHIT. Period. Do they think the listener is a moron? If a pillow can advertise 10 times an hour on every goddamn station, how expensive is it?

Shame on those hosts. Shame them all to hell.

Easy enough. Find someone who fervently believes Toronto is the literal centre of the universe, hates Doug Ford, believes the government should take care of you from cradle to beyond grave, could care less about rising taxes, has the NDP on speed dial, wants all roads in the city to be automobile-free, demands sidewalks be replaced with bike lanes and believes the CBC should get more funding.

I find it hilariously ironic that people think BCE shares only apply to OTHER people and not THEM. When, in fact, investment in BCE appears in almost all retirement options including the federal government's. So, if you will refuse your OAS and CPP incomes, you are also a "widow, orphan"...
