I am not much of a country music fan, but aside from that, my car stereo's FM2 (GTA radio presets) pretty well match the market ratings:

1 - 93,7 WBLK  - likely my all time fav station for a mix of lots of excellent R&B and a bit of HipHop.
2 - 96,9 WGRF - great classic rock without the Guess Who, Trooper and Tragically Hip six times a day!
3 - 92,9 WBUF - Jack FM is kind of like WHTT and WGRF mixed
4 - 98,5 WKSE - sometimes a bit of bubble gum is OK, but each year there seems to be a lot less that I like
5 - 104,1 WHTT -  Boom FM could only dream to be like this....
6 - 103,3 WEDG - about the closest thing on FM to XM Channel 40 Liquid Metal

Interesting the two (once) powerhouse Entercom stations, 98,5 and 102,5 are now falling behind. Entercom's choice to have so much playlist overlap is hurting them. One of the two stations should abandon the AC and become Rhythmic CHR and give 93,7 WBLK listeners an alternative. 102,5 has such a strong signal all the way up to Huntsville, and often North Bay. In the GTA, reception is excellent, essentially local and not fringe. Entercom could also steal a lot of listeners from Toronto's 92,5, 93,5, 99,9, 103,5 if they leaned Rhythmic, as Majic 102 did in the late 1980s and early 1990s. However it seems both 98,5 and 102,5 are stuck in a rut. Janet Snyder will be a great-grandmother and still be the Kiss 98,5 morning show host, and Kiss will still be selling tickets for KissMas bash 34 years from now. Staleness is a bad thing, and it looks like it is costing them listeners. Except in the office I work at in Mississauga. The ladies have the office radio 'glued' to 98,5 for Ryan Seacrest in the morning and the same 10 songs every few hours, in the afternoon.

The day before game 1, the day of game 1, the day of game 2, after game 2... 680 Blue Jays.

Rogers: Your beloved Blue Jays lost... twice. How long must the weeping continue? Now they have to air repeats of interviewed dejected fans ad nauseam leaving the Skydome and Nathan Philips Square...

Can we finally have the lead news story on 680 News be something news-worthy, and not what Rogers decides supersedes everything else local, national and worldwide?

Seriously, Rogers / 680 - enough shoving Blue Jays down everyone's ears!

- top of the hour headline - Blue Jays
- lead news story after :01 traffic/weather - Blue Jays
- five minutes of reporting live from Rogers Center with interviews with fans
- news story about planned DVP closure... might affect those attending the Blue Jays game

- Sports: Blue Jays (of course)

- Weather: Sunny, nice afternoon... roof should be open for the Blue Jays game

- Business report: You guessed it. Had to tie part of it in with the Blue Jays... hotel occupancy from visitors attending the Blue Jays games.

... and on and on.

I tune to 680 to quickly catch up on local and world NEWS headlines, and the endless dwelling about Rogers' beloved Blue Jays is becoming nauseating. There are what, 50,000 seats in the stadium? And this matters to the 4,950,000 in the GTA who can not / chose not to attend?

Rogers already has 590 Sports. Fine. Make it 100% Rogers Blue Jays radio. Even dedicate the sports reports every half hour on 680 to the Blue Jays. But how about keeping the news in 680 News. There is an awful lot going on locally and around the world, without a baseball team being the only thing someone at 680 News decides is what matters for their listeners to know about.

Jody, I also grew up listening to "Ontario's Music Leader, CKOC"

When I heard their plan to switch to TSN 1150 on Sept 7, I decided to record the final 8 hours of "Classic Hits CKOC".
I recorded the stream on an 8 hour T-160 with a Mitsubishi HS-U80 in HiFi (stereo, if the CKOC stream is). The recording ended about 10 minutes into the launch of TSN 1150 sports.

If you would like a copy of the final 8 hours, let me know.

I am another with the US XM. For a few reasons. I considered the Candian service to be a scam since it offered less channels for a higher cost. I spend a good deal of time in the Los Angeles area in the winter, and channel 140 has decent traffic updates. Channel 149, La Mezcla (used to be) an excellent channel until it disappeared to be "replaced" with Pitbull on 4 which is utter crap in comparison. Also, Channel 11, KIIS 102,7 has a great Friday night mix show, but throughout the rest of the week is essentially bubble gum pop, along with Channel 12, Z-100. They really seem to like moving things around, and trying new channels. Now there is Channel 31 "Yacht Rock".
