Chrisphen, good topic.  At the risk of creating a whole 'nother thread (see what I did there), zero degrees celsius is like nails on a chalkboard for me.

Same with less voters, instead of fewer voters.

There are a bigger amount of clouds, instead of more...you get the picture.

I try not to zone out during weather reports because it's usable news. So terms like 'thunderboomers', 'snowmageddon' and yes, 'humididex', when taken with a grin and grain of salt, keep me alert and informed. Not everyone's taste, but I'm no meteorologist. Just someone who wants to know how much to layer up when I head out. The added entertainment is a bonus.

Thx Jody!

Another good name was J. Paul Huddleston, a well-known California newscaster. And he stretched it out, much like Peter Coleman does with his last name on 680 News.

Peter Coleman was such an excellent sport, and could mimic his own delivery. Ask anyone who was lucky enough to work alongside him.

Our daughters grew up watching Willow Bay. She modeled, raised kids and worked in journalism simultaneously. Maybe those here don't know that, but a generation of young women do.

Perhaps aliases are absurd. This is not the era of Cary Grant or the zigfeld follies. There are some awesome monikers in Toronto radio that showcase our diversity.

Think I need a Bathe!

I'd like to think, for the sake of mom's, wives and daughters, that this was not cool.

But, hey, if you want to pay me 6 months to sit on my ass, well, I'll take it. And nothing says I can't track out of market and make more scratch.

cGrant, I hear that. I've also not heard of anyone disputing the NC, so enforceable or not, seems to work for both parties.

Money for nothing. We're still talking about broadcasting? -chuckle-

Radiowiz, I've known a few who've had to negotiate a no compete clause. I think it's been discussed here before, but still not entirely sure how they can be enforced. Everyone's gotta make a living.

P.S. - hope I'm not sounding like Ziggy

On select days, throw in a cat show...but I suppose that can get boring...however, it is a nice place to have a seat and a rest for a while after walking around a lot.
There is a (judging) room there with very comfortable theatre style seating. Too bad it's only open during the cat show and not for the whole CNE.

I haven't gone to the Ex in a while, but I do remember looking for the radio personalities at their booths,to watch them in action. And trying to get free swag. Is this still a thing?

Silent Disco sounds fun. Perhaps a security nightmare, but "groovy"

Oh me! Let me start!

cGrant your mysogynistic, puerile, nonsensical ravings with disgusting pornographic and scatological overtones seem to be deliberately meant to offend and distract the board from what we've all gathered here to discuss.

You've put down more posters than elevated. You're capable of restraint and even kindness, but choose to be combative and rude.

Your constant use of the term illuminati illustrates you're just an incarnation of someone who continues to try the patience of moderators who eventually tire of you.

And you are ridiculously unrepentant of the crap you put out, not caring a whit about the people who work in radio...who are passionate, who enjoy the past, who discuss the technology and current events with RESPECT for one another.

You ought the be ashamed of yourself, but doubt you are capable of feeling shame. Why not start your own board, and see how well your filthy nonsense fairs?

BTW people don't mind telling it like it is on this board. But most of us have collectively decided you're not worth the bother.

Have a nice day!

RA I loved the days when names were stale, raunchy, ethnic, iconic. Anything you wanted them to be. Believe it or not, that is radio now. Don't like it? Netflix and chill.

cGrant I love you and your misguided ways. Don't change.

Many of my older colleagues use a variation or derivative or their names. They've mentioned their names sounded  too "ethnic", or was being used on air elsewhere. The younger ones don't care, and use their birth names proudly. BTW their names are not 'in', they always have been.

I've lived thru an era where "how's your whole...family" was hilarious and not offensive, and last name Hunt, first name Michael was comedic gold!

cGrant one need only Google the name of RB reporter, Adwoa. She speaks clearly and never 'mumbles'. Indecipherable? Turn up the volume. Belittling an ethnic name is so '80s.

Perhaps some time away from the keyboard is in order.
