Re: More on the Bell/Virgin cullings

Bell Media would not confirm specific numbers or locations where staff were eliminated, but Scott Henderson, vice-president of Communications, provided Broadcast Dialogue with a statement:“We’ve reduced the number of positions in some Bell Media departments, which has led to a limited number of departures. The changes reflect the financial pressures facing Bell Media and the overall broadcasting sector as we confront rapid technological change and growing international competition for both viewers and advertising revenue.”

A statement like the above will be read out by the final big shot at Bell Media, just before he/she is handed a large bonus cheque (for excellence in right-sizing), and is subsequently shown the door. Hey, the last executive out the door with a big bonus wins!!! Woohoo.

Re: More on the Bell/Virgin cullings

Apparently, all the on air staff at a Kingston Bell Media station (FLY-FM) were let go yesterday or the day before.

Re: More on the Bell/Virgin cullings

Culling is such a harsh term. Excision is more appropriate.
