How A Radio DJ Went From Syndication Fortune To Living In A Trailer

I've heard of this guy by reputation, but I've never actually heard him on the air. But the story of what brought down a shock jock who legally changed his name to "Bubba The Love Sponge" involves backstabbing, idiotic publicity stunts, an alleged palace coup by a once unpaid former intern and most infamously, a sex tape involving Hulk Hogan that also destroyed that wrestler's career. It's simply an amazing tale of radio self destruction.

I've heard of people killing their own career but I'm not sure if I've ever read a story quite like this one, with a guy who went from making $2 million a year and having a syndicated radio show across the U.S. to living in a trailer and having to borrow money to pay his water bill.

And despite all that, he's still on the air!

It's quite a read and you can find it here.

Sadly, just another example of the ever-quickening ride around the toilet bowl that represents "culture" and entertainment to many.

And, just like a drug "fix", this type of entertainment is only as fresh as the latest drop below what was barely acceptable last week, month, year. Just like with Drumpf, there is no bottom. Bottom is for losers.

Just throw him/them another shovel and stand back.

Interesting story.  Thanks for sharing it, RadioActive.

Some crazy story RadioActive, it would make one hell of a plot for a t.v. show, minus the animal cruelty, and maybe just a tad less porn too, but definitely keep the intern.

I was think something similar.  He should write his memoir.  It would be a best seller.

i remember "buba" on howard 101 (one of two stern stations on sirius). he was definitely "hard core". that said, i'm not surprised he tuned into a "flash in the pan". maybe there's a slot for bubba on that new west side (gta) station? i hear they like hosts with a controversial past.
