Ironically, CJRB is a radio station in Boissevain, Manitoba - and it isn't owned by Corus.

Hate to resurrect such an ancient theme, but this popped up on the web on Tuesday.

CJR.B is up $0.64 since my last report. We're up over $8.00 now, laddies. I think I'm getting a nosebleed.

Shaw is reported to be selling its stake in Corus.  Proceeds will pay down debt in Shaw.  Corus is not expected to benefit from this sale.

There seems to be great interest here from time to time about the fate of Corus' stock. Here's the latest bad news from the company.

One-time charges weigh on Corus Q3 results, revenue drops as advertising slows

Re: who's buyng CJR-B?

I once heard 1220 CJRB from my North Kawarthas listening post. I've only managed that once, and that was despite CHSC still being on the air, as well as Cleveland!

This headline from Broadcast Dialogue really tells the story:

Corus radio profits dip 54% in fiscal 2020, while demand for TV content buoyed

The thread that will not die returns. This time, revenue is up but profits are down.

TV and radio broadcaster Corus Entertainment reports Q1 revenue up 10% from year ago

This ridiculous thread stretches all the way back to 2018. But now investors are giving Corus a second look - and they apparently like what they see.

It's only because in an uncertain market investors like a stock that doesn't move much but offers a dividend.  It has nothing to do with the stock itself, it's just guaranteed money when none of your other investments are doing anything good.

Re: who's buyng CJR-B?

Andrew Pyle of CIBC Wood Gundy, was asked on Bloomberg Market Call, today, what he thought about this common stock.      Or so we thought.     As he discussed the pros & cons, it became evident that he was talking about "Chorus Aviation" and not about "Corus Entertainment".

That's what can happen when one is following the program on radio & not on TV.      Bummer

Re: who's buyng CJR-B?

And the beat goes on.

Corus Entertainment takes $350M goodwill impairment charge, reports Q4 loss

What, exactly, is a "goodwill impairment" charge? I thought it was about getting arrested for being drunk at a discount charity store, but it's actually this. Not that the definition makes it that much more clear for us non-business types.

Re: who's buyng CJR-B?

Last week, Global (under Corus) cut 14 positions on the esteemed ET Canada show.
Relax, Cheryl Hickey is OK for now...

Corus CEO Doug Murphy has sent a "belt tightening" memo to all staff.  No discretionary travel, deferral of raises and bonuses, maintain on air and production operations but no extravagant capital budget purchases...  think twice about using those paper clips, please bring your own supply of pens and pencils from home, and use both sides of the toilet tissue... yada, yada, yada...

Guess that mega bucks buyout of Derringer has really hurt...

Whatever happened to the BELL offer to buy Corus?
Rogers would love to have Global and sell City TV to anyone willing to buy.

That was for Shaw, not Corus, and they backed out.

Bell would have no use for Corus without major regulatory changes.
