Ever hear one of your regular newscasters terribly boot a word, knowing it's not the way you're supposed to say it? Well, you can imagine what the people who close caption newscasts hear every day - and they can't turn the channel. I once heard a Toronto newscaster, who was obviously new to the area, pronounce "Yonge St." as though Yonge rhymed with sponge. Ouch!
# 1 up here is WASAGA BEACH, s/b pronounced "wah-sah-gah", no hard "a", eh?
