Any layoffs of note in local radio?

Now that the minimum wage has been forcibly increased by the State? Just curious...and not hunting for talk topics.

Don't be silly. Canadian radio has never paid enough for most to make minimum wage!

Why would it? Worst case is reduction of hours for part-time promo folks, which itself is unlikely.

I don't know. I'm not the girl in the finance cubicle. That's why I'm asking.

Re: Any layoffs of note in local radio?

Part-timers making minimum wage are an incredibly small portion of radio's labour costs....this increase is absolutely nothing compared to other top-line challenges.

And spare me the Just Asking Questions bit -- "Forcibly increased by the state" makes it clear what you're fishing for.

Students will now be paid $13.15/hr...(Up from $10.90) but at that age aren't they interns anyway?
