Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

The veteran anchor of The National will be stepping down - but not until after Canada Day next year.

Re: Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

I can only guess the replacement will be someone CBC viewers already know well.

Re: Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

Maybe he'll pull an Ann Rohmer and this is one of the first of his goodbyes.

Re: Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

Is he now considered an up-and-comer for the Newstalk1010 round table ??

Re: Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

He should've retired a long time ago... the days of the single trusted male anchor being the face of the station are over. Kids are watching youtube videos and getting their news from twitter, so no need to shell out huge $$$$ for his salary and pension.

Hopefully his replacement will cost CBC and taxpayers a lot less so they can stop grumbling about needing more funding.

Re: Peter Mansbridge Begins Long Goodbye

They should move the show to 9 and have two anchors.
