Why Can't I Get Channel 7 [Circa 1959]

Interesting story from the guy who installed my parent's tower and rotor in Oakville in 1984. In the mid to late 50's when television sales skyrocketed in the GTA the second most important purchase was an outdoor antenna. That got you WGR ch 2, WBEN ch 4, CBLT ch 6 and CHCH ch 11.When WKBW signed on in Nov 1958, no one could receive it in the Toronto area. Complaints arose. I have an outdoor aerial. I get 2 and 4 why not 7. they are all in Buffalo. I am missing out on The Rifleman and 77 Sunset Strip. When it was explained by the installers that the antenna the customer had was good for VHF channels 2-6. If you wanted to receive WKBW, you had to purchase an antenna that covered VHF ch 7-13. The response was somewhat negative. YOU ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER $100 TO GET ONE CHANNEL? In 1959/60, the industry developed an antenna that covered the entire VHF spectrum. It became known as the 2/4/7 head.
