"Continuing coverage of breaking news!" : Creative Writing 101

It appears that Newstalk 1010 is using "Continuing coverage of breaking news!" instead of the standard breaking news phrasing more often these days.

Would it be more accurate to say "continuing coverage of the top story" or some other creative spin? And save the words "breaking news" for just that. The gang at 1010 are an exceptionally talented (award winning) bunch, and there's got to be a way to get attention that respects the importance of bringing the news to people, and the intelligence of the listeners.

Cause "Continuing coverage of breaking snooze" is a distinct possibility.
