On Wednesday evening, the Toronto Police Operations Centre tweeted out a "Media Advisory". It stated that a family of one of the victims of the Yonge Street tragedy reports some media are harrassing the family.
The advisory ends "Toronto Police request that all media respect the privacy of those involved."

There is someone on FB that has the exact name as the suspect. Canadian too. His last post tells the media that he's not that person, to "f*ck off" and stop harassing his friends and family.

How is this even a logical story? The ACCUSED is obviously incarcerated in jail! Why would anyone call this guy's house or bother him if he's not in jail?! Sometimes, being in the media is embarrassing to admit when there are ridiculous hounds chomping at the salt lick.

At the police press conference yesterday,. Dep. Chief Peter Yuen also admonished the media for trying to get in touch with Officer Ken Lam, the hero cop who didn't shoot the suspect. He complained reporters were harassing the man's family, even going to his father's restaurant in Richmond Hill, trying to get a comment from him or his relatives.

trying to get a comment from ... his relatives.
Why would the public be interested of what "his relatives" have to offer? What do they expect them to say other than positive, supportive and congratulatory missives.

All I can think of is that old saw about not overestimating the intelligence of the general public.

To get that classic quote, "Why, I didn't think he would do something like that".
