Radio ad: "Does sandals look good with socks."

Son of a beach, radio ads are playing fast and loose with the english language.

GNR 640 Toronto is playing an ad for a travel agency, and the voice actor asks the question "Does sandals look good with socks?" Unfortunately, the name of the company didn't stick with me, I was too distracted by the Does/Do 'fox paw'. If agency x can't get their ads right, what else are they careless about... It's not a crime, but it's not a good look. Like wearing socks with sandals.

Stuff like this tells me the age of the copywriter. I recall hearing a spot and the announcer reading the copy gave the phone number as "hashtag xxxx". Nobody under thirty would call it a pound sign and even fewer still would call it an octothorpe.

That would make good sense. I only heard it the one time.

In other news, Nike has "Play less nice" as their new catch phrase. Can't wait to see if/how they explain "less nice" and I have no doubt that they will do so quite nicely. ;)

What exactly does "play less nice" actually mean?!  Are they implying that we should cheat?  Or are they condoning the use of medieval implements and disembowel the opponents?  Similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY5Ug1OW5O4

The Play Less Nice campaign makes their user base look like total jerks to me.

The fact that those of us in radio (as opposed to the general listener) are guessing and not remembering who the actual sponsor is, defines the notion that it's a poorly executed ad.

My hand to god, I had almost verbatim written out this morning, but got called into a meeting and when I came back just shut off all the browser windows, but I agree wholeheartedly.  And as you point out, made that much worse when you consider that we are a group of people who do tend to listen far more closely than the average listener.
