rock 'n roll riot

For years, a group of us meet in Collingwood or Elmvale or Stayner on Saturday evenings for a beer + a burger and to listen to the Rock 'n Roll Riot on FM 97.7 the Beach @ 7:00 p.m.   Tonight it isn't there.  Hopefully a temporary setback.

Re: rock 'n roll riot

Did not know about this show but was curious when I saw your post just now and this is what I found:

A history of the show…Launched in 2008 as the Roots of Rock and Roll on 97.7 the Beach. A 4-hour show. Then 3, then 2…then 2 plus 4 hours on Sunshine 89 in Orillia. Both cancelled in 2011 for “budget reasons.” Real reason, someone high up didn’t like it. Reborn on Internet radio as The Rock and Roll Riot. Brought back on 97.7 by Rockin’ Rod West in 2013 or so (but no pay for Johnny). Cancelled this week by that same someone high up.Here’s the final show, that aired last night.Segment One: Chuck Berry, Johnny B Goode; Freddy Cannon, Tallahassee Lassie; Imelda May, Wild Woman; Rolling Stones, Street Fighting Man; Max Webster, High Class in Borrowed Shoes; Dick Dale,, Misirlou; Bullmoose Jackson, Big Ten Inch Record

Re: rock 'n roll riot

On summer Friday & Saturday evenings it could be heard from cars cruising Beach Drive, reminiscent of Wolfman Jack/American Graffiti

560 CFOS Owen Sound still plays oldies except for weekday morning from 9-10 when a local phone in show is aired. Not specifically Rock & Roll however.

Not even close, Mike.     560 CFOS thinks Wanda Jackson is a General Motors dealer in Collingwood

Am a regular listener, but not just for tunes that charted top 40.     He takes phone requests, often filled within 5 minutes of the 'phone call, including tunes that didn't make top 40 but are from movie soundtracks or were included on extended play records of the fifties.     And he's a funny guy (meant in a complimentary way)
