kowchmedia has results of the Fall 2016 Numeris Radio Diary ratings

We always make a big deal about the PPM ratings in Toronto but last week Numeris released results of its diary ratings for Fall 2016. The 13 week 2016 Fall Radio Diary Ratings across Canada were conducted September 5 – October 30, 2016 by Numeris. Anyone 12 years of age or older living in a randomly selected Canadian residence by Numeris was eligible to fill out a ballot for one week. Participants listed the radio station’s call letters they listened to in 15 minute time blocks. At the end of the week, they mailed their ballots back to Numeris to be tabulated. In all, there were 13 weekly groups of ballot holders who participated in the ratings across Canada.

For results at radio stations in Barrie, Belleville/Trenton, Brockville, Brantford, Chatham, Hamilton, Guelph, Kingston, Kitchener/Waterloo, London, Oshawa/Whitby, Ottawa/Gatineau, Pembrooke, Peterborough, Sarnia,  Sudbury, St. Catharines/Niagara, Thunderbay and Windsor click here

Results of the Fall PPM ratings in Toronto,Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver will be released Wednesday, December 7th at 9am. kowchmedia will post results for A12+, A25-54 and A35-54.

Re: kowchmedia has results of the Fall 2016 Numeris Radio Diary ratings

Can we just admit that the sample sizes are so small now that those numbers are useless?  Virtually every diary market in Ontario has stations with audience swings of 50 to 100 percent even on stations that made no changes.  Let's get real.  It's not fair that our colleagues outside of major markets are forced to work with that mess.

Do we really think the Conestoga College radio station is getting 200% more men ages 25 to 54 or that Fresh in Hamilton has 50% more women 25 to 54 in one book?

Prod Guy nailed it.   Will Numeris fix it?  No.  Instead, they will simply allow all of us to doubt the system.   It's a crying shame.

ya but the problem is the national advertisers still suck it up like.... well, they suck it up and spit it out to the top three in each market, while the rest of the stations are left licking up the dregs.  so no ProdGuy, while i get your point, there are still some who rely on it for justifying their decision making ability.

On the other hand, Rebel FM in Ottawa thought it was fantastic they scored a 2 share!  And hey, over 5,000 facebook likes have to sell something, right?

When a station has nowhere else to go but up, why not throw a party?

Ask Numeris why the 4th largest market in Canada is not using PPMs and you get different answers depending on who responds to your query. Oh, and 7 years on, there are still no plans to abandon the diary in Ottawa/Gatineau.
